Why? Are you tired of being a "poser" with a black grill?

Or are you going to reduce the brand value of Mercedes by making your car look like something it's not? IE a newer model, Mr. Poser guy?
(Of course you know I'm kidding...and you know what I'm referencing)
Here's some pics. I think it's the tabs on the bottom that need to go.

i got the ebay grill but the description was wrong, its not a direct fit for the pre-face coupes. I wanted to see if it matched the 05. can you send some pics of the back and the does the 02 support part fit the 05 or does that need modification as well (the part that attaches the top of the car)
I the I have is only 3 bars with a bigger star so I think i will have to cut mine. since the DIY 05 grill install thread is missing pictures could you send them to me when done. thanks

Actually that's a great idea.
I'm sure there has to be someone here that has an old stock coupe grill laying around?

Todd,

Sweet,
We are on the same page.
I love how your car is set up.
Help me find a Super Sprint.
Are they made any more for our cars?

I have a set of C32 Rear Calipers on the way.
Pretty sure i have some C32 Front Calipers in the works.
Got my 18" AMG's on last night.
Would you go Tein again, or H&R, Eibach?
Going to do a few things for looks, seems to me that the Rear Spoiler would get the back end planted a little better.

Do you think the TVT or LEV are as good?
I bet we could steal one off a Orion Blue Coupe in central CA?

Whats the point of the rear C32 brakes?
I always heard they were the same.
You can order the header directly from Supersprint.
http://www.supersprintna.com/
Last I checked it was like 800+ though.
Not cheap.
I paid $600 for mine from a private party who never installed it...
they wanted $700 for it...I talked 'em down, though he was not
happy at all about it.
Whether or not it actually resulted in a performance increase I'm not certain. But it seemed like it did. Butt dyno(click here) only. May just have
changed the power band, though it seemed more responsive.

You have to cut the exhaust to get it in, it comes with an adapter piece, but that will leak, but good enough to get you to a muffler shop to weld it,
which was another $75, I had flanges put on to be able to remove it.
You also have to remove the supercharger.

Between the exhaust and pulley I pull pretty hard. And still pass smog better than stock at the tail pipe according to the smog guy.

And with the louder exhaust and screaming SC from the SC delete...
does that count as no go? Ha, well, it sure gets my GF excited.
Sometime soon I'll do some vids.
Performance varries a lot depending on outside temp etc.

Yesterday, in the rain even, I entered a freeway ramp, that I like
to WOT on, I swear I got up to 70 mph at least 2 seconds faster than usual, and at least 300 ft sooner.

I doubt the rear spoiler does anything. It's held on with double sided tape.
So, yeh that was for looks...not sure if it does much or not, but what the heck. It was like 90 bucks on ebay + 100 to paint.

As far as CO's I haven't been in cars with other types.
One thing I can say is that they have their US HQ right here in So Cal, and the struts and shocks can be rebuilt for $75 each, so good support. Not sure about the other brands.

I do like and use the adjustable shocks though.

Dude,
You are killing me with that ARSE411 butt dyno!

The C32 rear brakes gives you a 1/2" larger rotor which is nothing, but it is Vented. Pads are a different part number, dont know if a little bigger, or just thinner to make up for the rotor thickness. For $65.00 for the pair how can you pass them up?

Thanks for the info and install help on the Header. Will have to see what i can find. I like the idea of the flanges to make it removable for service or repair.

I have read on there a lot that the intercoolers get heat soaked. Bigger would be better, especially with the mods and more boost. If you are pushing hot air it does nothing for performance.
On my 930 Turbo, it's about 500HP in it's current state of tune, i have an Aircraft Air Temp Differential Digital Gauge across the intercooler. It will read total differential temp, or you can select inlet temp 2 the intercooler, or outlet temp from the intercooler into the engine. At speed with enough air going across the tail, about 100-120 degrees difference. Bigger is better with intercoolers, as long as there is not long pipes and have to keep the pressure difference across the intercooler low, real low.

There's a guy on benzworld in the slk 170 forum who's using an ebay IC, someone said they were going to try one on a C230 but haven't heard anything yet.

"Just install a great mod like a cold air intake? Electric supercharger? Big Muffler? Magnetic fuel line ionizer? Awesome wing? Are you getting no respect from your friends for your newly found power? As we all know, these are high end and sophisticated modifications. Some may be TOO sophisticated to actually show up on a traditional dyno. So here we have: The Butt Dyno. Simply place it in the seat, and drive fast, weaving in and out of traffic. (On a race course, of course.) Now you can tell your friends with confidence "That oil-saturated air filter gave me 20 horses!"
