Help With Fog Lights- 2002 Coupe
Hey everybody. I just got new bulbs for my car, and i was able to put all of them in with no trouble from Timmy's excellent lighting FAQ- except for the foglights. On the drivers side, i simply cannot locate the screw that Tim talks about in the FAQ, the one between the seam of the engine panel and the right underbody panel. the only screws i can find are the headless ones that secure this panel on- there doesnt seem to be any slotted screws there! If these have to be removed, how do you do it? Anybody have pictures? Also, i looked at the passenger side real quick (the FAQ says to reach down from top of car) and i cant seem to reach down far enough at all! Help please, my car is looking stupid with fog lights different from all the rest! thanks a lot guys

Same problem here.
I was unable to figure out how to get access to the driver's side fog light.
On the passanger side I had no problem reaching down from the top and replacing it that way.
Please help us

they werent screws on mine. they were PIA plastic studs and i had to beat the heck out of them to remove (use pliers, flat head screw driver to pry out) basically u're pulling them straight out/down, all 3 of them, then u should be able to loose the plastic panel around and finally out, hard to describe and good to have the car jacked up a bit if possible (put some muscle into it and dont be affraid of breaking anything....its all abs plastic down there so pretty tough stuff).
good luck.

I'll give it a try, thanks guys.
Seems like too much of a pain in the *** to replace a silly bulb, especially considering how easily are the other bulbs accessible.

Pull out the center piece like tberry said, and then the other piece will come out. It has a rough edge kinda like its threaded. But just pull it straight out.
To reinstall, put the outer piece in first and then center stud into it. You will see how it works once you get it out. The center piece just expands the outer piece so it won't fall out.
But, I think some of them are different sizes. So make sure you keep the two parts together after you take them out. Some of them have thinner studs and won't hold tight if you put it in the bigger outer piece. And the bigger stud won't fit in the smaller outer piece.

I had the same problem. Here is a thread where I asked for help...it shows how to take the plastic stud out...
Thread
I'be never been able to follow Timmy's instructions on this issue.

Thanks again Tberry, i was able to pull out those fasteners and access the light by pulling the panel partially out. i actually had to do this on the passenger side too, because after reaching down from the engine bay and twisting the bulb out of the socket i found the wires were not long enough for the bulb to come thru the hole in the bottom (as stated in Timmys FAQ). It wasnt too hard to put back together either, and it was worth it because my fogs now match =) Tim if you are reading you might consider changing your FAQ a little.
