Help Replacing Front Passenger Side Door Switch

Help Replacing Front Passenger Side Door Switch
My current switch was pushed thru to inside the pillar. Please advise on how to remove and replace it. Do I need to remove the inside pillar trim and is so how? C240 sedan. Thanks.

Wow, how did that happen? Was the seat belt buckle there when the door was slammed real hard? I'd try to fish the wires out through the hole and go from there since it looks like it mounts from the outside of the pillar. It had to be broken up to go through the hole.

Thanks for the replies. It is a 03 240 4matic sedan. The switch is the (interior light door ajar switch) located in the center pillar. Is the normal replacement done the the exterior of the pillar? Is there a procedure for replacement?

Did the whole switch or just the plunger disappear into the pillar? I haven't had one apart but it looks like the switch assembly presses into the pillar from the outside so you should be able to fish the wires/switch through the hole where it mounts. Take a picture.

Thanks for the replies, I was able to manipulate the existing switch and pull it through the exterior opening. However the plug is on a really short wire which reaches only to the bottom of the opening. I am now strugling to replug the new switch which is proving very difficult without room to hold the female plug still. Any Ideas/ suggestions would be appreciated.

It's probably tied back somewhere down the line at build. Tug on it a bit to see if it will move some, don't overdo it (famous last words). Or to be safer, try extending the plug. I assume you got a new switch, so break the old switch apart and remove the female connector piece and use it to help make an extension.
