help check engine light on!!!
so last friday 1 pmish i got my w203 from the dealer for the hose recall, sunroof lubed and city light replaced. the next day during the same time i got some gas at shell, 91 of course and 10 mins later the check engine light comes on. so i tighten the the gas cap a couple of times lights still on, then decide to call the dealership. they said it was the gas cap and the light should turn off if not call on monday cause the service dept is already closed. called on monday and the SA booked me next thursday. he said as long as its not on limp mode the car should be fine til then. he said if it was somewhat their fault its would be covered. im thinking they wont admit it anyways even if it was. what could this be?? any ideas? im gonna scan it with my friends scanner over the weekend ill let u guys know.... btw im out of bumper to bumper warranty but i think i still have major components.... should i worry cuz i feel guilty to even drive it...

Yeah get what codes they are and it will save you lots of guessing.
On the other hand like the SA said if it is not affecting performance its ok.
I had a CEL, and it was running rich, ran exactly the same. I checked the O2 sensors, cleaned the MAF, checked gas cap and didnt see anything wrong but the light stayed on.
And after a week the light disappeared.
Worth fixing? To me no.

will get it scanned tomorrow or latest saturday. autozone does it for free? or is there a small charge? i better off buying a obdII theyre pretty cheap now a days!!! will keep u guys posted

I have a cheap ($60) OBDII scanner I keep in the glove box
(never know when it might come in handy!) in addition to a BR3 interface
for more detailed real-time analysis work. Now if I could only find an
inexpensive mux for getting into the CAN bus...

well i dont know how to diagnose the problem because i really know nothing with cars.... i like cars solely on looks.... with my old honda i had some what info on it but this is my first german car so it is all bliss to me.... i appologize for my ignorance!!!!!! if i knew anything i wrote it down thats it!!!

well got is scanned by my friend and it said (P0171) running lean and (P0410) secondary air injection system malfunction.
took it to benz to see exactly what it would be and they told me if its not at all related i would have to pay $240ish just for a diagnose!!! i thought its was around $130 but at the end of the day the SA called back and said it was a crack vacuum hose which might or might been their fault so they gave me the benefit of the doubt and took care of it free of charge!!!
honest guys at MB mississauga... i never thought they would own up to it!

Damn. Mine just came on today too. I read through the posts and checked those plugs.... Nothing : (
I was hoping it would be the leaking cam sensors. At least i would know the problem and how to fix it.
I'll have my wife take it to Advance Auto tomorrow (we dont have an autozone nearby). Hopefully they will check it for her.
