I happen to think those cars are nice and clean.. Personally, I think if your a true car junkie you should have an eye for all types of cars. Weather it be Japanes, Korean, German, Italian, Lowrider, JDM, Hotrod, Classic, vintage etc. Although each may have a preferrence as to what they would like to own or drive on a daily basis.
Just my 2 cents.

yeah, i know a couple JDM guys, and they are just into different things. I personally dislike the IS and the G in your pics and feel like they are a little overdone (esp. the IS, with the gold wheels, c.f. hood, yellow fogs, and red paint. too much contrast IMHO) but to each his own.

If i were you, id prolly go C32. Stock.. it is faster than both and you can mod it fairly easily(and relatively cheaply).

Also dont sleep on C-Classes, they can look sharp as hell with the right exterior mods.

Hell.. I half-a$$ed my car.. all i have are lowering springs, a set of cheap 18 inch ebay replicas, tinited windows, and tinted tails.

I get lots of compliments from the same people that used to call my car ugly and girly when it was stock.

+1 In a nutshell that is what I was getting at. Those cars look good but they just aren't my style. You can like something but it may not be your style or preference..you are just admiring it for what it is. For instance I like the GTI's and R32's but I wouldn't drive one...

I guess tasteful wasn't the right word. You said it perfectly, they look good no doubt they just aren't my style. I still love my Benz and the prestige and classiness it has even though it isnt the nicest car out on the road dont get me wrong, I feel you there.

Oh I know how sharp C-Classes can look, and I still love how they look I just want some more power and an updated body(AMG) So maybe the C32 or C55 if I can come up with enough money is the way to go...

c55 with 60k on for $22k. You can probably get another 2-3k off in this economy.

PPB to agree with your comment above. I am probably a little biased but I've owned them all over the years. I've only had 3 Benzes. Japanese styling still sucks big time. It's improved but it simply does not have the European flair.

I have very good Japanese friends but to them style is chintzy by European standards - You only have to go into Yellow Hat or Autobacs in Japan, their two largest Accessory & Auto care chains. The crap they buy for their cars is simply unbelievable.

It's their country & their preference which they have every right to.

They just must not ask me to like it. Their engineering is excellent.

out of the 06 G35 or the 06 IS350. I would go with the IS350. Make no mistake, the IS250 is boring to drive, but the IS350 with the right suspension and proper setup can be very fun. I drove the IS350 with the F-sport upgrades at one of them Lexus event and I must say it is very quick and fun to drive. Plus you get the reliability of Toyota.

another good news is you can get Carlsson mods for IS too.

How do you feel about Audi? Maybe a used A6 / S4? S4's are pretty bad on gas, but good performance. I'm a fan of A6 styling, but I'm not sure as to its performance meeting your wants.

99-01.5 S4 is the best S4 because you can mod it easily than the new ones.

Main problems are the S4 turbos are very bad. So you have to go with the RS4 tubros which are called KO4. Then you can chip it (Garette chip) and you have a stage 3 pushing close to 380. Also it's all wheel drive so you can launch higher RPM but you loose more power to the wheels since its an ALL WHEEL DRIVE. But I do warn you that once you start modding it you will blow out the turbos easily. It will be addicting to mod it more and it's not cheap and it's not the most reliable car in the world because you can hardly find a stock S4. Too easy to mod and almost everyone modds them. And when they modd them they rip their cars. Another issues S4s have is that tranny 1-2 gets stuck a lot of times.

What to look for:

Make sure it has upgraded turbos because they are going to go out soon if its not KO4 (RS4 turbos).

Make sure LCD screen works (cluster) (Dead Pixels a common problem)

Engine mounts go out quick

Control arms go out very quick also (especially if you abuse the car which most S4 guys do)

Make sure tranny doesn't get stuck (Climate doesnt matter for this issue)

Also keep in mind that there is no room to work on the engine (cant even get a finger in there) so for repairs depending where it is you may have to pull the engine out (especially turbos engine must come out)

S4 = Passion not a new type of car to get into.

I live in Lebanon & France... the c320 was for LEBANON.
There whenever you buy a car, there is extra fees... For exemple Custom Fees for
c230k 2002 : around 5000$
c320 2003 : around 8000$
C32 over 13000$........
same for bmw's, 325 : 5000$, M3 : 11000$...
So with nowdays economy, a c230k 2002 in here costs around 18000$ for an average mileage car (80000 ?)

C32 +5000 on its U.S. price & +5000 on the customs fees & +1000 on the registration fees... that makes a difference
