any slim ballast will have an external ignitor. I have HID on my fog lights using a slim ballast and it didnt trip off anything on my computer. There shouldn't be any difference between the digital and standard in terms of the computer being tripped since both will have the same current draw.

Hella does sound more trustworthy than panasonic for lighting though and there is room for a standard size ballast. Also, not having the ignitor on the wire will make installation easier on the driver side, but this all depends on where you mount your ballast.

Thanks FooKoo for your input.. Going to purchase the Std's by weeks end.. Going with the 3000k and should look good on my white W203.. At one time I had clear fog lamps fitted a while back from Steve MBenzNL... The 55 watt Piaa melted the housing and the dealer replaced them with the OEM frosted.. Looking around for OEM clear lens, but will probably have to go with depot since there cheaper and the same... Thought about replacing the glass only but thats pointless..

Where is a good place to mount the ballast for the fogs..? Should I twisted tie them behind the reinforcement bar at the ends?

Thanks,
Will

Okay. I took the bite and bought a set myself. Found that it's pretty cheap at ebay in which they also set up shop there.

Do my homework on this company. They sound european (internet website, installer and such) but their headquarters are from CHINA. They had set up shop here in California too.

So with that in mind, should we be any concern about the reliablity? But then again, it's cheap. But that is not what i am referrencing to, I am worried if they will cause any damages to the car's housing, wiring, or worst the computer.

I know we have all tested and found that it works wonders, but somehow whatever they are promoting doesn't match up to the owners that they are.

Well, give your inputs on this.

My HID's are from China. So long as your xenon=present is set, they'll work. What kind did you get? 35w?

Yea. I got the 35w version. After reading through tons of thread about this subject. It makes sense to go with the 35w version and since there are no reports about it flickering or throws error message with this brand. I think it's worth a shot to try out. Did I mention about the price? Not that I am cheap, but it's worth a try since it is not expensive.

Also, I read that the 55w version might burn the housing and such and it's too bright and has glare (regardless). So not worth the headache on that matter.

Well, I guess I have to wait and see how it goes when I install it.

Make sure you get your xenon=present setting done at your dealership. Provide them with instructions, 10 minute job, should be free.

I have frosties, yet my hid's aren't too bad. I've driven head on towards them before. It probably helps that my lenses haven't yellowed, yet.

Yea I saw that, was about to order directly but the shipping kills it making my total to about $60 bucks. I went to ebay and found the same company auctioning it. Got it shipped at door with a total of $40.

Hi guys,

I purchased and installed the 35 watt Single Beam 9006 std version from link posted above and it worked without any problems... I purchased the 5000k temp bulbs and they look great with a crisp clean white... I had the bumper off while swapping out a bad ballast I purchased from the popular auction site and decide to do this modd while the bumper was off... Purchased a pair of depot clear fog lamp housings as well... Bolted the ballast to a bracket near the side markers... No errors No problems!!
Thanks to previous members who paved the way..

Next project re-sealing the baffle covers.. Stealership did them once before and they started to leak again.. Someone did a nice write up and seems easy enough..

Alright. I got and installed my set in. I have some problems guys. I notice when I turn it on on a cold start, it flickers for about 10 secs. Then it warms up and gets brighter and the flicker goes away. Only occurs when it's on a cool turn on.

Is this what you guys experience as well? Any reply is greatly appreciated.

Also, what is the color connection you did for the car's plug to the hid plugs.
It's not idiot proof.
I did BLUE = YELLOW , BLACK = BROWN.

Also what about the plug to the ballast. Is the clip goes into the small notch on the ballast or the large notch?

Also, what is a good pairup with the city lights? I think the OEM is too much of an orangie / yellowish color.

I agree with you that the original halogen color is hideous, but what do you mean by "good pairup with city lights...?"

He means the front parking lights. I used some generic blue tinted 168 bulbs from autozone. They're dim, but match my 6k's nicely.

Then go buy error-free LED's for it! It'll be blue, but cost a bit more ($20?)

But I actually like the halogen daytime/parking lights when the lows are on, looks "unique" :P

Maybe someone else who installed these into the headlamps could chime in.. I installed these onto my fog lamps without a hitch.. They start up without any flickering..

Piaa extreme white for the city lights should match your setup!

Take care,

It's easy. Wrap a flathead driver with some cloth, start prying from the front of the side-marker (towards the front of the car), and it should pop right out.

the oem ones can be taken out like Lane said, when I bought my smoked side markers, I added double sided tape for extra security
