ok so i got tired of asking people and people telling me this was impossible that the Euro COMAND will never navigate you but i got it working 100% now!!! (including voice guidance) i hacked the 2006.1 US DVD and made it work in the Euro unit! (secret)

While I don't have a command unit, I have to admit, you should get the word out on how to do it. Be careful of course, but get that word out.

no - it is just the nav disc that requires some modifications...we had that going in 2005 but due to some of the nav updates not willing to be modified and due to the instable character of the modified nav discs we stopped offering that and we swapped out most of the euro comands we installed for US comands quite a while ago already.

Euro COMAND 2005+ sound VS. Standard Stereo w/ Harmon Kardon?
I've done a search for commands and found mostly pre '05 and such and there are too many threads to read. I just have a simple question for those who know or have upgraded to a command system.
I love my Harmon Kardon system and specially the "surround" sound but I want to upgrade to an OEM Euro command unit. Does the Euro Command have atleast the same if not better sound output than my stock head unit now? Does it also have a "surround" option?
I have a 2005 c230 SS. TIA guys..

Questions about Euro COMAND 2005+ retrofit...
I cant seem to find any straight answers about this on the forums:
If I were to purchase a European command unit for my 2005 c240 I understand that it is a direct plug in, along with the antenna, and a trip to have the dealer set the MFD to work with the command.
Question is: What features do you LOSE by purchasing a Euro command instead of the "correct" US command unit? I have heard that you lose AM radio, but in another place I'm hearing that you don't. I've also heard that there is no way to make the navigation work in the US with the Euro unit.
Can someone give some definitive answers to this?

The AM spacing is wrong, so for instance, if you want to listen to AM730, you'd have to tune to AM729 and it would be somewhat faint. Some stations may land on the dot and others you wont get at all.
Only one member has been able to get the nav to work. I have the euro command but getting the nav to work is a project thats down the road for me. It requires buying an antenna, and both the euro and us/canada nav disc sets, then making some kind of hybrid disc.

I sent the author an email asking him how he managed to create the hybrid disc.
I'll report back if I get an answer.

the theory is to rip the disc to ur HDD and modify necessary file(s), prolly something to do with regions, and then burn to disc & voila~
i doubt that author will give u step by step DIY instructions... otherwise, we would've known by now...

Hacking Euro COMAND DVD.... any info?
I've been searching for this info for a long time now, and it seems like its some kind of highly guarded secret! 
Here is the info I've gathered so far, maybe it can help others and we can figure this out!
A 2006.1 US map DVD is what's modified (not sure if it works with newer ones).
I assume you have to buy that DVD, change around either some file structure or maybe a string of text, and then burn a DVD with the changes. A European map DVD might be required to grab certain files off of.
Does anyone have any other info on this?

Otherwise I guess I'll just grab the Euro Comand disk off ebay.

both US DVD and Euro DVD should have similar size files but different names, match up the file size and rename accordingly... this is 2006.1

Also as long as you're here- any luck getting an MP3 DVD or CD to play on your unit? I'm still getting mixed answers, but it sounds like its a no.
