I'm sorry, but I think it looks terrible. If you're going to do it, do it in the middle. Personally, I've been lucky not to have been pulled over in almost 3 years in a front-plate-state. Given the choice, I'll use the mount and put it in the middle.

personally i hate anything that isn't symmetric. i also don't like the way a front plate looks, i just keep mine between the passenger seat and the center console and if get pulled over just throw it up onto the dash real quick fast in a hurry.

sure,
1: go to home depot
2: buy a piece of metal that is about 2 feet long and 2 inches wide, sorry don't know the exact measurements or what its called but it says "sim strap" on my receipt. Cost 1.77 CND
3: look for a big bolt, 5/8 by 2 inches (yes I know the treading isnt the same as the one on my tow hook, but you only screw it in very little)
4: get a bunch of washers
5: drill a big hole in middle the metal plate that the 5/8 bolt will fit through.
6: bend both sides of the metal plate up on both sides of the hole.
7: take off the tow hook cover and slide the plate in there
8. mark off where the front of the bumper lines up with the 2 ends of the plate line that are sticking out.
9. Take the plate out again and bend the 2 ends outwards so the resulting shape sort of looks like this
(this end goes into the car)
***__***

___| |____
(plate mounts on this end)
10: drill 2 holes that line up with the licence plate holes (I actually mounted the stock black licence plate mount onto the metal bracket I made) and cut off the excess metal the sticks out from the side of the plate.
11: Slide the metal bracket you just made into the area for the tow hook and put the big bolt into tow hook hole. Use some washers to adjust it because you will only be able to screw it in a little bit without cross threading the hole.
12: mount your plate onto the metal bracket
The bolt does not mount perfectly into the tow hook hole because of the different threading but it is tight enough that I can pull on it hard and the plate wont come off.

I did this in my old car and still got a ticket for it. So I think Im gonna mount a plate on even though I think it looks ugly as well.

Doesn't work for me - keep it in the middle - looks a bit goofy.
I've recieved a ticket for no frt license plate and had to put it on (I always get these tickets - like my 3rd one) - I dreaded putting it on - I'm used to it now.
One thing though - if you have it off - a cop may let you off easy like he did me and write you up for that vs. say speeding or something else - I got my fix it ticket on 101 before 92 - he let me off with the fix it ticket vs a moving violation. it cost a couple hundred though... The only issue ... he/she has a reason to pull you over if you do not have it...
