Proper tire pressure 2004 - C240 wagon

We tend to favor the "ball bearing ride" that you get with maximum air pressure, not overfilling, mind you. I checked the tires, Michelins, and they were at 25 psi (cold). I filled the tires to 35 PSI and the vehicle rides well with that pressure. Is there an alternative or recommended pressure for these tires on this vehicle?

C-240 wagon, 11 months & 6500 miles

We have had almost a year of trouble-free service from our brilliant silver C-240 wagon, bought as a demo (only 100 miles on odometer) in December 2004. It has only 6500 miles and no damage anyplace. The only warranty work was some pieces inside the rear interior that were buzzing; the dealer replaced them along with a chrome piece surrounding the rear taillight that had bubbled.

Now my wife wants a cloth seat cover for the driver's seat. Are there any nice ones available?

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
Hey there!
I bought my wagon at the same time, only warranty work has been flooded fog lights and a siren with laryngitis. 13K miles, most trouble free German car I have owned.

I might suggest your wife consider sheepskins. They are warm in winter, cool in summer, and I know people who love them so much they even drag their dead sheep on airline flights.

Mercedes used to offer them in their "collection." You might call a dealer parts Bob, and ask what is available.

Need Driver's Seat Cover - '04 C-240 wagon

Who sells cloth driver's side seat covers for the C-240 wagon. My wife does not want sheepskin, despite the great reviews. The car has been in service for 13 months and had only 8,900 miles. We want to keep it in pristine condition.

New '04 C-240 wagon on ebay

A dealer listed a new 2004 black C-240 wagon with 48 miles on ebay. The warranty and maintenance coverage have already started running so it was probably made a demo. They are looking to get $30 grand for it. Seems like this is buying into a lot of depreciation. What should this unit sell for?

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
This car looks like a "punch out" by the dealer. That is where they report the car sold to MBUSA to get a factory incentive. On this car it could have been 3500 to 4500 cash to the dealer in November or December 2004. The warranty starts when the car is punched out. The dealer might have assigned the car to "alternative transportation" which brings another payday to the dealer. Many alt trans car were never used as loaners, just held in stock. That can explain the 48 miles. Wagons are not popular, so they can hang in inventory longer than sedans. You probably cannot buy an extended warranty on this car because it is an alt trans car.

The 2004's do not have the face lifted interior, but they did have free oil changes. I could have purchased a similar car for 28,500 a year ago. I chose a 2005 because the price was the same, and I liked the interior better. I wound up at 27,500 because I did not get heated seats or a CD changer (they are so 80's.)

If I wanted that unit, I'd offer about 22,000 for it. That will allow 500 for transport and junk fees the dealers try to add at closing.

If you contact a sponsor, Mark Newton, at House of Imports, he might have a few wagons in stock, and they are very competitive.

Keep in mind that towards the middle of 2004, these cars could be had for cheap, $30K is what they would have sold for back then or about $7K off. They no longer make the C-Wagon so it's a rare car. The paint code 040 means it doesn't have the ceramic clearcoat which came out mid-year 2004. 040 is very soft. It will look totally swirled from even the kindest car washing, you will have hundreds of rock chips in a year or so. Put a clear bra on the front as soon as possible if you get it. It does have 4yrs/50K miles of free maintenance which is worth about $2,500.

An ironic postscript

The vehicle bid up to past $23,000.00 and has not re-appeared. This suggests that it was probably sold for the high bid or close to that. This is the magic of ebay - selling a car for more than it is worth.

Good price for '05 C-240 wagon, 7K miles

A local MB dealer that is about to be gobbled up by the local auto conglomerate that owns all the other MB dealers down here has an '05 C-240 wagon that has been used as a loaner; it has 7,000 miles; it is equipped with sunroof and heated seats. What would a reasonable price be?

You could buy that car new a year ago for 29,000. I'd offer 25K and see if they want to sell.

I have to do something soon - the Buick is sold (see profile). I have had so much fun driving my wife's wagon that I am looking for one for me.

Car shows no signs of abuse,

but the right rear passenger door was keyed pretty bad, one horizontal mark about 12" long. The car is black. How much should such a repair cost?

We looked at another '05 wagon at a nearby dealer that had 12,000 miles but it was abused, with damage on front and rear bumpers to prove it.

I had the right two doors painted last month. Done properly in a booth by talented painters the cost was 800. for the work, and 400. for the materials. The trim was removed, and the fender and rear quarter panel were blended. You cannot tell from factory new.

Was this done at the dealer?

Was this done at the dealer?

If I negotiate over this car should I make the dealer fix the damage or negotiate the price down and have it done myself?

Would you want to have the whole door done for a scratch on the part above the side moulding?

Spot painting never matches, and down the road it will show. That is why you need to paint and blend the whole door. Most dealers do not have body shops, and the ones that do are operated as a separate business from sales. Anything the sales department puts into the car will come out of you, one way or another. The are many independant shops that are certified by MBUSA to repair the cars. You can also find great paint shops, but most of the time body shops are just "getting by."

I had my car done by a dealer because I had 11 grand worth of body work done that required taking out the front and rear drivetrain for a hard pull on a Cellette bench.

If I were in your situation, I'd moan for hours how bad that looks, and get freebee tossed in like free A and B service, or extended warranty, and just live with the scratch. (can't see it when your driving, can you?)

How much would it cost the dealer to Starmark it?

The car is 78 days late on the first service, so that is already an issue; they would have to take care of that because the service came due on their watch. How much would it cost the dealer to certify the unit with a Starmark 6yr/100K mile extended warranty?

It's back - new '04 C240 wagon on ebay

The dealer re-listed a held over '04 C240 station wagon that they had run through a couple of weeks ago. I suppose they could not sell it to anybody who had the higher bids, so it's back. How much realistically is this unit worth?
