you'll actually need the longer rear mounting bolts for the calipers. the mounting bracket is thicker so you'll need to get the c32 bolts. that was my only thing I needed for the swap. Also when installing them you'll want to bend the brake dust shield some so its not rubbing the rotor.

oh i was referring to doing the whole front and rear conversion, for the fronts its a direct swap, just bend the dust shields some for clearance.
If you're doing the swap i recommend buying some SS brake lines

Hi there guys, I'm very new to this fourm and yeah kinda a noob at mechanical components of basically everything. Although I am a pro in exterior and interior modification.
Anyway my question was that if I could replace my standard disc rotors in the front (soild disc with inner ventilation) with the cross drilled rotors? http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...BRKPAD_pg2.htm
This is only for looks as im not looking to gain any breaking performance.
Would the standard callipers fit? would it just be a simple rotor swap? thanks

Hi all...this is an old thread but is in the sticky so wanted to update that there are other OEM brakes that you can fit onto the W203 cars besides the C32 brakes.
I know that a W209 2008 CLK550 brakes will bolt directly on just like the C32 brakes. The same issues will apply like on the C32 brakes---wheel size and longer bolts are needed to mount the rear calipers. They have the same diameter rotors (345mm front/300mm rear), are 4 piston in the front and 2 piston in the rear.
For reference if anyone wants, the VIN I got my brakes from is WDBTK72F18T095971 and was a salvage car from ebay.
Front Caliper Part# Left A0024200883 / Right A0024200983
Rear Caliper Part# Left A0044233198 / Right A0044233298
Rear Caliper Bolts (x4) M10x30 A0039902200
I am sure with more research there are other cars you can use as well. Happy stopping!!

Does anyone here know for a fact if the uprated rear brakes for any of these cars (C32/55 AMG, CLK550/55 AMG) use ventilated rear disks that retain the 2 piston rear calipers. I don't want 63 AMG 4 pot rears but I doubt that cars with solid rear rotors use the same 2 pot caliper as ones with vented rear rotors since a vented rotor is like 2X as thick.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Newbie
I have the 2006 C280 4Matic. I love the car. Smoothest riding I've ever been in. I'm satisfied with the power, it's the wife's anyways BUT, I'd love better brakes and 18x8s all around. Are there 2 piston calipers that'll "bolt right up" and clear the offset I need for the 18x8 rims I'm gonna get?

4 piston brakes with 16" wheels
I wanted to install 4 piston brakes and keep the 16" wheels on my C320 wagon. Everything I read on the subject said it's impossible. After a bit of research I found that the W220 was sold with 330mm 4 pots and 16" wheels and the 03-04 w211 E500 was available with 312mm 4 pots and 16" wheels. I picked up a pair of E500 312mm calipers. They clear the stock wheel diameter easily but they needed 7mm of spacing at the spokes. The other issue was the E500 312mm rotor. The hat height was 64mm instead of the 46mm w203. The back of the E500 rotor would run into the steering knuckle. What I needed was a 46mm hat height rotor with 312mm diamer. After a bit more searching I found the 96-97 w202 C36 used a 46mm hat height, and 316mm x 28mm rotor. Close enough. The rotor was also used on V8 powered w210s outside the US.
So here's the formula:
03-04 W211 E500 312mm calipers, $75
96-97 C36 TRW rotors $9 x 2 pn 2104211712
10mm front hub centric spacers with extended bolts, $45
C32 brake hoses $6 x 2

In hindsight I think 330mm 4 piston brakes would also fit but it would require a wider wheel spacer.

Ha, Freakin' crazy! Figuring that out after all these years.
My car came with 17's. I bought a set of 16's to put chains on presumably,
they actually drove better in terms of tracking, went straight down the road and
last a long time, but don't look as cool.
But once the C32 brakes went on, the 16's were sold.
Since then, I've gone through dozens of tires....some lasting only 5K miles
with the 17" wheels. Most recently though, I have some all seasons I hope will last longer.
Really sweet research project. Congrats on bring it to fruition at this late date for the W203.
Yee gads, the pics finally came up.
All that work, and you didn't refinish the calipers!???
PLEASE do paint them....

All the information about caliper interchangeability and rotor and brake pad dimensions is available on the rockauto catalog. It's an excellent tool if you just want to figure out dimensions.

MB C36 rotors are dime a dozen in the US because of an error in the brembo catalog that everybody copies. The 316mm rotor was only used on the w202 C36 and the V8 powered w210. Except not in the US where V8 W210 got the same 300mm rotor as the E320. So all these brake rotors manufacturers copied data from brembo and flooded the US market with 316mm rotos where there's only about 1000 cars that can use them. Even the dealers at one point we're trying to install replacement 316mm rotors on W210s. I ended up buying new old stock (manufactured in 2001) Made in Germany TRW rotors for $9 a pop on rock auto.
The used E500 4 pots are dime a dozen because nobody realizes they're interchangable with anything else. They are identical to the 330mm and 345mm calipers except for the length of the mounting ears to the spindles. They even use the same brake pad. Total cost for this project including new pads, rotors, hoses and spacers was $165.
The 300mm sliders which I took off the C320 and are still in excellent shape will be going onto my 97 E300 diesel that has the same 288mm brakes as the early c230 coupe.
As for painting the calipers, maybe at some point. I haven't decided on a color and I'm still testing them to make sure the setup is perfectly reliable.
