hello, i want to ask to all the members that own´s the Sportcoupe with glass sunroof, if you listen some kind of ( knock knock,toc toc something like that rattle coming from the roof, and if you solve the problem!?

The only time I've noticed any noise from the panarama roof is when it's extremely cold and the car hasn't been run for a few days. There seems to be a slight 'click' sound when driving. It's easy to fix....just partially open the roof and close it.

Mine makes noise when it's fairly cold outside (roughly below 40 deg F). If I take it to the dealer, they lubricate it, and it goes away... for a few weeks. It's very annoying. It's either poorly designed or there's something wrong with mine (though I've heard others complain as well).

I understand that the top of the car is glass, and it's going to be less rigid than a car with a full metal top (or even one with a moon-roof), but it still seems to make more noise than it should.

IMO, glass is structurally more rigid than thin sheet metal.

Instead, I believe the noises will occur where glass and metal meet. Anyplace there is a break in the continuity of the roof, there is bound to be expansion concerns, as disparate materials expand and contract at different rates.

The roof is esentially black, and retains heat. I wonder if you folks with noises have the lighter body colors (Pete's silver, white, etc), that reflect light as the dark roof glass absorbs it. By inference, those with the dark colors (Lynn and Rick's Orion, etc.), might have more even heat distribution as the darker colors absorb more. Of course Carlsson's car is black, so that one doesn't fit the theory...

Any opinions? Poll, anyone?

An interesting analogy MB-BOB.

Could also be caused by the seal (is this rubber?) between the glass and the metal roof. Someone posted earlier that opening and then closing the sunroof fixed their noise. Could the seal be expanding and contracting?

When I first got mine, anytime I had the roof closed, it would make some weird clicking noise. After about a month though it stopped and hasn't been a problem since. I just hope that it doesn't come back!!

Hi, the noise that i reported, was something like some knock knock when the road is bumpy, in bad shape, in highway it doesn´t make!
MB-BoB my car isn´t the one in the picture! Mine is grey!

Yes,
my C230K is making knocking sounds coming from the sun roof. I took it to the dealer, had a service guy ride around and listen. It is now going into the shop to get repaired. I will let you know the outcome.
