resonator delete, loss of power?
hi guys,
i have a c200k and removed the resonator yesterday as it rattling under the car,
anyway the rattle is now gone but my car seems to have lost power/response. has anyone else experienced this?
also low/mid rpm the car sounds better alot deeper but at high rpm it sounds terrible like a tinny crackling note, which prob means my rear muffler is also stuffed,
anyone know how to get the response/power back?
any help would be great, thanks

w203 c200k, r33 GTR,
i have done the throttle reset, it helped a lil bit still feels like i have lost response/torque,
i might try and fit an aftermarket resonator when i change my muffler and see if that helps get power back,
i dont think the sound is worth the loss of response, these cars need all they can get.

it feels like you have less power because you lost back pressure by removing the reasontor. Less back pressure, slower exhaust velocity means you have less low end torque then before. You probably got a little more power in the top end since you relieved some of the back pressure.
just up the boost on your kompressor via smaller sc pulley or larger crank pulley and you'll get your torque back.
The lost in low end torque is more noticeable in the 4 cylinders then the 6cylinders...thats why the guys with the v6 doesn't really notice the difference in power.

does the pulley really make that much of a difference on these cars? was gonna order one from TVT a while ago but changed my mind,
these cars need all the low end torque they can get,
i think i will try another resonator when i change my rear muffler and see if that helps get response back

I have the 3.5 m272 will I feel a big difference? I was really considering the resonator delete. A guy with a CLK500 didn't feel loss of power or noise.

still not sure if i want spend any $$ on making this car faster, as i have a jdm s15 for speed,
i just want the car to be a bit more responsive so i dont have to rev the car out as much,

come on fellas- a loss of power from a res delete? it's all in your head. a resonator will not affect performance (unless you count the 3lbs weight savings). it's strictly a sound mod. there's nothing in a resonator to obstruct flow and change power. it's simply a straight through pipe will a bunch of holes in it surrounded with some sort of packing.

all you need is a pipe and an exhaust shop can do it for ya. shouldnt cost more than 80-100 bucks max

On a C200 - just take the exhaust back to standard. The American version produces a lot more power with different head & SC. The C200 does not like you fiddling with the exhaust & as you say you can't afford to loose any HP or torque - also sounds awful.
