Has anyone painted the facelift grille body color?
I know many people are painting the stock facelift grille all black and that looks good. I have a 3 fin CL grille currently, and while I don't dislike the look, I don't really love it either. I want a grille without the star in it. I'm thinking about painting my stock grille and putting it back on. I didn't find any pictures of the stock grille painted any color but black so I'm wondering if anyone has or not. I'm thinking about getting the chrome part painted pewter to match the body and leave the black part alone. Thoughts? Can maybe someone Photoshop this look?

i have mine painted the body color and the chrome painted rubberized flat black...before that i had it all painted body color see below:
The first pic is with all body color, the second is with black for chrome and body color for the rest

I asked our body shop guy today, and he said $100 to paint the chrome part of the grille since it will need a few coats and adhesion promoter to make the paint stick to the chrome. Even then though, he said it couldn't guarantee it would stay. I've had experience painting over chrome myself and it didn't turn out well, I painted the chrome strip on my Trailblazer. I scuffed it up with a mouse sander and then used Krylon Fusion with some Duplicolor clear, it looked great but the paint chipped off very easily. I don't know if an adhesion promoter would have made a difference , but I think I remember I couldn't find any or something like that. Plus, I don't think Duplicolor makes a matching color for my car.

i did white as well because my mech had extra paint.... not everyone's taste but i like it. Not the best pictures though, i just realized i havent taken any good photos of my car in over 2 years... and yes, i know my car looks like a beaver with my front plate...

My grille is still chromed on the outer shell but the inner louvers are painted same as my car color. I bought it that way from the dealership. With 3 slots and no star.
