2006-2007 C230 Relability
Alrite guys i'm looking at buying a 2007 C230. I understand a lot of people have had a lot of problems with the earlier C230's like with any other vehicle that's in the early production era of a redesign but what are some common problems if any i should expect? And also i'm looking for a model with OEM BIXENON's. which is extremely rare out of the 90 i looked at on auto trader only 1 had BIXENON's. Why didn't more people get them?

You answered your own question about the bi-xenons. People didn't get more of them because they were a rare option.
That said, the reliability of the face-lifted C-class is solid. This has been discussed millions of times, please search this forum for "reliability" and "common problems". You'll find all you need to know.

Yeah that's what I meant, too, Emin. You went to the dealership to buy a C230 and if none of them had bi-xenons, what did you do? Not everyone can order a car and wait. They weren't readily available, so few cars have them.

Post ***** chiming in.
Why don't you just get the perfect one that fits your needs (color, mileage, condition) and then add BiXenons?
Whats better buying a car just because of Xenons or buying the car you want and adding Xenons?

In summary, just buy the car you want and add the 55w kit if you can't find one with Bi-X.

I have an 07 and it has been pretty reliable. I had one "major" issue and a few small issues. The major issue I had was a popping in front end, that was tracked down to a bad power steering rack. You can click the link in my signature for "Johnand's" C230 thread". I would not hesitate to by an 06 or 07 C-Class, as any preowned one should have had any little issues fixed under warranty.
As far as the Bi-Xenon's, yes they are extremely rare. When I was looking for my 07, my dealer did a search and there was not 1 C230 in the US that had Bi-Xenon's. Since I had to have Xenon's on my car, I ended up having my dealer order my car. They said, they had NEVER ordered Bi-Xenon's on a c-class because they were of the opinion that the halogens worked great, and no-one would want to pay the $700 premium for the Bi-Xenon's. I can tell you I drove an 07 C230 with halogen's and the light output was good, but in no way close to the performance of Bi-Xenon's in my C230. With that said, I would concentrate on getting the best value C-Class you can find, then add Bi-Xenon's to it, if the car you get doesn't have them. Even at ~$1200 to retrofit, the Bi-Xenon's are worth every penny IMO.

thx guy for your valuable input. I will probably find a C230 for a good value and add either a retrofit or oem xenon or just put a hid retrofit. Because the 2 or 3 BIXENON's vehicle i've seen are 3000 more then what other's want for non xenon. And i did look at your picture with the 55W HID's and they do look good. Is it possible you can post a picture from an eye level point (a picture from where your eyes would be when actually driving the vehicle. And i looked at the DEPO projectors with 55w hid and i think the OEM housing with 55 W hid would be a better match.

In New México, we are permitted to drive high speeds at night in rural areas. Therefore, I special-ordered my C230 with the bi-Xenon lights. I have never had any regrets; they are great lights.
Unfortunately (as previously mentioned) the bi-Xenon lights were not common on the C-Class Mercedes. I would definitely recommend retrofitting, if your dream car is not already equipped. This is expensive, so you may wish to try high-performance halogen bulbs before sinking the $2000 into the bi-Xenons.

I found a pair of OEM BIXENON's 1100 dollars shipping. But the auto level feature how is that possible? Through a special piece connected to the rear stabilzer links? Or an internal device?

It's a sensor on the swaybar, I believe - so if you install these lights that feature will not work. But it'll be fine without the feature.
