C230 Kompressor is either a supercharged I4. Depending on the year, it is either 2.3L or 1.8L. Starting from 2006, a 2.5L v6 was used. The 2006+ cars also come with a 7-speed automatic (or 6-speed manual) instead of the 5-speed automatic.

The supercharged 1.8L responds a little better to mods and has more low end torque. The 2.5L is a bit smoother. Between the two years I would focus more on what options, mileage and condition the car is in.

Both of the cars im looking at is very similar not off by much. The 05 c230 kompressor have 40k miles and the asking price is $16k while the 06 c230 sport have 38k miles at $16k. This will be my daily car for work.

A year older and 2k more miles on the 2005 for the same price?
Get the 06. It's a newer car with a newer powertrain, probably still a bit of warranty left, the 2.5 V6 is a bit slower but isn't going to be as prone to issues as the 1.8SC.

Thanks for everyones input. Im leaning towards the 06 c230 sport since its newer even though its not a kompressor and it wont come with a supercharger. Is everything pretty much the same such as the exterior, suspension set up for the 05 kompressor and the 06 c230 sport?

Orion Blue, of course.
Mars Red is a very nice color, and is fairly rare on Benzes. Obsidian Black is an interesting color, and very subtle.
Black, silver, and white are boring. Get anything else if you can. Makes it easier when you get to the parking lot, too.

I was stuck deciding either getting black, silver, or white for my Benz too. I thought white was plain, didnt look any different clean or dirty; silver was my very next choice, back then i really liked the color, it was simple and had MB's 'original silver' exterior look [you always see MB advertising with it and their DTM and AMG safety vehicles were always silver] plus, its not too hard to maintain.
But finally black, the color i finally ended up with, was my choice and absolutely LOVE it. When kept clean, its simply looks sexy, mean, dark and sinister yet subtle and clean that adds depth, dimension, and sophistication with a sense of class on the car. Not many people usually go for black car where i live unless its an expensive car, because its something that takes time to perfect. With that said, if you really love your car and have time to spend taking care of it visually, go for it. No regrets here

I had trouble with the color too, and (of course) the black shows dirt and chips much more than some of the other colors. But the dirt is easy to deal with--take it through the wash when you fill up!
Something about the black always gets comments from people about "how clean" the car looks (even when I think it's dirty). It just looks great all the time, I think because the famous Mercedes "fit and finish" really shows up more with the darker colors (contrast with the lights and the trim).
I have the grey interior in my C280. I thought I'd like the black interior, but I drove a few, and it felt oppressive and dark (plus the dust and dirt shows up on the inside the way it shows up on the outside, only you live inside the car, so it's always there) so I went with the grey and I'm glad I did. It's just brighter inside, more cheery than the black. The color scheme with the redwood trim is really nice with the grey too, but it's really a matter of personal choice.
I would go with the 06 for the reasons above--more warranty, newer equipment, 6 cylinder, etc and I don't think the Kompressor (last year was 05 if I'm not mistaken) gives you enough of a boost to make it worthwhile (a good friend of mine has an '05 C230 Kompressor and it's just not that fast). Also, I'd rather have a bigger engine than a booster any day.
Good luck--you really can't go wrong either way!

Thanks everyone for all your opinion's. Black is the color i want but like mention it can look the worst when its dirty. White is nice and easy to clean but also get dirty the fastest. Silver is good all around but it just doesnt give the car that WOW look to it. I'll be checking a 06 black c230 sport with 30k miles this weekend for 16k so if all goes well i'll be the new owner.

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
When I had my white CLK, everyone thought it was always the cleanest car, even when I hadn't washed it in way too long (months). I love my silver, but I have seen some of the '07 in white, and I think it looks a bit better when clean. I agree with Maverik, the black hides the detail of the car way to much. It has that WOW value, but you lose so much more IMHO.

It is a common misconception and myth that a white car gets dirty the fastest. It is actually quite the opposite. A white car that begins to get dirty still looks the cleanest of every color, just like a silver car. Lighter colors will look much cleaner compared to darker color cars as they get dirty...
I only buy white or silver cars because they stay looking the cleanest and I don't have the patience or time to wash my car 3 times a week.
However black cars do look spectacular when they are clean. But they generally stay clean for only 1 day after a wash. After 1 day, you start to see dust and dirt. Also, black cars show a lot of swirls in the finish very quickly, which is what annoys me the most about black. When you get the car detailed, MAKE SURE the detailer is reputable and guarantees their work. I have seen many black cars look horendous after a buff job because of the use of incorrect buffing pads and/or buffing compound.

2007 C230 Sport manual
For what it is worth, I used to drive a Silver '05 Kompressor. I now drive a Mars Red '07 Sport. Both with manual transmission. My comments:
1. Kompressor had better low-end torque (which means the Kompressor felt like it had more umph off the line) and better gas mileage (I would do long highway runs at 3000 RPM and watch the gas mileage to up to 35 on the computer system). But, the difference in low-end torque is not that big of a deal and only noticable when driven back-to-back.
2. The '07 has the body kit upgrades and looks better than the '05. At first I was not too happy to have the Mars Red, but now I like it. It is always the best looking car in a parking lot. But, then again, I hand wash it every week and keep the interior spotless.
3. At one point, someone in the dealership's service department said that the engine in the '07 is the best engine MB ever made and that it is practically bullet proof. Also, by the '07 model year, MB had gotten all the kinks worked out.
4. The brakes on the '05 wore out a lot faster than on the '07. My '07 has 62,000 miles on it and has the same pads and rotors. The '05 went through at least one full set on each corner by that point.
5. The transmission on both cars seems to be the same.
6. If it were me, I would get the car with the better financial deal as there really is not much differnce between the two versions.

i was in the same situation... i ended up getting the 06.. i like a NA versus a supercharged engine.. get the less mileage car.. 06 will still have it's warranty (up to 2010) while the 05 may have reached the factory warranty.. get it certified so you don't have to worry for the repairs for an extra 3 yrs (or 100k miles)..
