For the price I'm sure they're going to ask, I'd be more interested in a true exotic that makes a bigger statement. The gullwing doors are beautiful on the original; in a new car, it seems more like a novelty to me. I'd prefer a convertible or normal doors that would allow a sunroof.

whoa!!! how dare you emin... 
hahahahah!!! but i agree with everyone.. bad job with the rear... thing is.. mercedes before dint have a good budget. hence the older SL's had really bad performance/suspension/steering/ EVERYTHING design except body. they never even took aero dynamics in consideration.. so now that their more established, i think they put the money where it had to go on this car.. hence body design had to blend with aero dynamics.. OVERALL rear to me sucks! lmao!
beleive me.. i have a classic SL myself and everything just falls apart except the body...
edit: they also failed on those headlights.. like the other dude said.. its like a photoshopped 350z... but i still want one!

the original 300SL Gullwing was THE FASTEST sports car of it's time. handling and aerodynamics was also bar-none at that time. This was 1954!! Mercedes has always spent a lot of money in developing the SL-class second to the S-class. The Gullwing had an option to be made in all aluminum sheet metal which is the one that's worth more than $600k

lmao! i got that off an actual gullwing owner i spoke to.
how much is this new gullwing? i forgot to ask. coz the old one i think runs around 400k to 500k. i saw one a few months ago for 599,000.
