Is it too late to debadge my car?

I'm about to debadge my near 8 year old C240. Do you guys think I'll encounter discoloration on the trunk?

Thanks all.

I debadged mine after 6 years owning of a C200 and I could still see the 'C200' marks everytime I looked at it, but the tropical super humid weather in Indonesia could be the reason why it left those marks tho. I did bring it to my professional detailer and still there!

The marks more like uneven clear coat/paint on the surface that says C200 and I 3Med it back after a while since I couldn't stand it

I also debadged my other W203 that's located in Toronto after 4 years owning the car and it looks just fine.

Weather and humidity reason?

It could be different on a silver tho...

I will say i think my car has always been garaged kept. and i had to polish it before all the residue came off but i don't see where the c320 use to be. my car came from Mississippi and spent around 6 years there. and then i got it in 07 and debadge it not to long after. also my car is white so color might have something to do with it to.

With silver or white - no problem at all.

word silver and other light colors are very giving... i have black and it took a lot of polishing to make it look "even". I would heat it up, take them off by dental floss than use goo gone to take the sticky residue off. After that i'll use rubbing alcohol to clean it up... wash, polish, wax.

Take before and after pics

i say do it, my friend did mine, and he used an alcohol based cleaner to take off the glue or tape (not exactly sure) that was still left on, and mine turned out clean as hell

if anything, the only reason you'll be able to see the outline of the old badging once off is because the paint is not scratched when compared to the surrounding areas...

just a thought - fade due to sunshine won't be a problem if that's what you are worried about.

car will look fine esp b/c you have silver just do it man... you won't regret it i promise... looks so much cleaner imo gives it that "euro" look

if anything just clay the trunk although the outcome will look so good you will want to clay the whole car including windows!

use alchy, goo gone to take off residue and be patient

Done!

Good news is it looks clean. Bad news is if you look close enough, you can see the darker areas. Oh well.

Thanks all!

hey bro i think i got a pic in my profile on the forum if you click on my user name. good job by the way it looks clean if you see any marks just clay bar and use alcohol followed by polish n wax n it should look nice. you can do others have said and wash a few time n leave it in the sun, but no worries b/c you have silver so you have a lot of lead way.

by the way if you don't have them yet get the LED license plate bulbs i got white ones that look the same as the ones on the newer 3er's. they came with resistors so no bulb fail message or flickering

I debadged my new car, a 3 year old CLK, as soon as I got it, and I put a little more attention to it. get some Turtle Wax Polishing Compound, and use a light touch. you need to get the shine off the previously badged area, then wax. it may not look perfect in between the compound and wax stages, but wax anyway and take a look. I'd rather do it 2-3 times than overdo the compounding.

imo i don't think benz and bimmers look good with the rear main emblem debadged. i eventually will just matte mine but i do have to say on the G35 it looks very clean with everything debadged...

and yes the adhesive is a beoootch to take off i must've used half a bottle of goo gone b/c it was during winter in my garage. never try to scratch off if your fingernail... if your careful i guess you can but with black everything shows.
