2003 C230 Sports Sedan
Question Black Opal or Pewter?

I just ordered a Pewter C230 Sedan a month ago and just went to the dealer over the weekend they had a Black Opal C230 Sedan. Man that color is nice. Question is should I change to the Black Opal? I think Pewter will be easier to manage and keep clean but the Black Opal is so beautiful. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

In addition to washing daily... Black needs constant polishing. I love the look, but can't stand the spider scratches when the sun hits it. However I'm also not a fan of the Pewter. I guess it comes down to what's more important. The actual color or the maintenance.... thats just my .02 cents

If you are willing to put in the time (or pay someone else ) to do the maintenance on a dark color then go for the black opal. All really dark cars will show the small scratches in direct sunlight and they will still look good. Pewter is a new color so you wouldn't see yourself coming and going.

I've seen a sport sedan in Black Opal also and it looks awesome. I would say go for it, except Pewter is also very nice. If I had ordered silver, I would definitely switch to Black Opal, but I might keep the Pewter instead of re-ordering.

The colour Black Opal is the same as Green Black, the colour code is 189.

This is my colour. It is hard to describe as it does change in different light. See pics to get some idea???

I have only polished my twice (once every 6 months or so) and wash it every 2 - 4 weeks. It's not that had to keep it looking good.

white and whiter
black opal will be a good color since less people have it. pewter is just not as good as the tectite grey from last yr.

Mine is obsidian blk. I wash it once a week and wax it about once every 4 months. It's raining season right now in So Cal, hopefully I can get a chance to wax it at the end of this month.

quick question: is mother's wax better than maguire gold class?

Yes it's the parktronic sensors. I hired a CLK in Europe a while ago that had it fitted and swore that if/when I got a Merc I'd have to get the parktronic. You can pull off the tightest reverse parks without any problems.

ok let me comment again on this....if you like to keep your car looking clean and near flawless whenever possible, GET THE PEWTER....if washing your car every 2 or 3 weeks is ok and normal for you, then I think the Black Opal is ok for you.

I have Brilliant Silver and I like to keep it looking clean at all times...even if we are to have only 1 or 2 days of clear weather, i'll still get out and wash my car...I just love to drive a clean looking car whenever possible....

BTW -it ticks me off to see a MB encrusted with the black brake dust on the front wheels!!
