Mercedes Excellence
When I brought the car in, I asked them to look into several minor issues:
1. One of the windshield washer jets was not working properly.
2. Sometimes poor radio reception
3. Climate Control
a. The red button (increase temperature) was not illuminating as brightly as the blue button.
b. The unit has sporadically done whatever it wanted to (fan operating while unit switched off).
I received a loaner (not M/B, but a brand new toyota), but who cares, as long as I have some form of transport.
The car had an overnight visit. Following is what was done to the car:
1. Service B
2. New Washer Jet (original was defective)
3. New Antenna Bar in headliner (original was defective)
4. New Climate Control (original was defective).
I am still on my original brake pads with no mention of a need for replacement. The car came back feeling tighter and quicker than before, and they changed the wiper blades and air filter.
Final cost to me - NOTHING.

Gas gauge does not read full when full
Rear sunshade inoperable
Oil spots on rear seat cover
Trunk liners filthy with dirt.
Needless to say, not very impressed.

We use the Sacramento facility of the former Von Housen dealership [they also have service locations in Folsom and El Dorado Hills], having moved here from Benicia in 1994.
When we left the Bay Area, one dealer with a particularly poor service rep was Stead in Walnut Creek. Though they were closest to us [after the Vallejo dealer had its franchise pulled for financial finagling], I had nothing but awful service there. We bought two cars from them, but wound up taking them to Hacienda in Pleasanton for service work.
The Sacto dealer is something of a mixed bag - they have some very competent people, but lack of attention to detail and extreme crowding in the lot and shop area can lead to car damage. I've taken to using the same service writer, who understands what I want and schedules me with mechanics that he trusts, on each visit. Their main problem seems to be just too much business for the size of the facility - the EDH dealership is meant to relieve the crowding, but it just got started and they still seem a bit overwhelmed.
They did recently fix a leaking differential on our '02 C240 in speedy fashion, and so far, effectively.

I know Smythe in San Jose is expanding their repair shop. No complaints except the alignment thing a long time ago, and they at least keep my car clean
Just got my car back from the first Scheduled B Service @ 22,000 miles.

I had a Toyota Camry. Brrr - I felt out of place in that one, although it has its place; good car.
Where did you take yours, Manhattan?
No creases, excellent radio reception, even better remote opening range.
Serviced at MB Huntington
Hehe - Morristown Mercedes charged me for the washers.

Its nice that they do give you a car, but still, it should be a benz, not a Toyota. The dealers are given generous incentives from DC to make MB's available as loaners and demos. Sounds like a cheapo dealer. Probably has his kids running around in the loaners
