While I believe one should not compromise on tyres, brakes & dampers;

Look on the bright side - gives you more money to spend on other rubber products for your nocturnal activities

to each their own but i wouldn't discount too much on my life.
funny thing about tires; everyone needs them but no one wants to pay for them. i am definitely the opposite. my life is too important to me to be buying no name tires off ebay.

OK, so I'm being cheap too....I was looking at "Sunny" tires, but don't really want to get
the absolute cheapest crap.
I found these tires,
Kelly Fierce UHP 255/40 R17 94W SB

but the vendor isn't very highly rated....about 25% of the people on epinions said they'd never do biz with them again....but their prices are very cheap.
Some people had no problems.

I did some reading on the "Fierce" tires, they're made by Goodyear, normally cost about 130 (onlinetires) each, and are apparently very close to the same mold as more expensive Goodyear tires, and are quiet, and have a huge treadwear rating...and they're US made.
I go through rear tires every 5-10K miles...like every oil change!
They're UTQG: 420-AA-A

Then I found these Conti's, I know people don't like the Conti's very much, but for 65 each, thats a steal, and at least they're not some cheap crap.

https://www.onlinetires.com/products...ntact+94y.html

I'd like to get the "Fierce" tires....but this company is pretty shady...
looks like maybe they'd last longer.

What I really need is a camber kit and a good alignment, but that would likely cost about $500 for the kit, install, and alignment....

Anyone bought from tires-easy.com ?
Seems they're like parts.com.
They don't actually have the tires...
you're making an offer to buy the tires...
They're based in Hanover Germany,
calls to the customer service lines go to India, and their
shipping comes out of Newport beach....

But for some, they really did get the products and a REALLY great deal!
Well 75% did....it's a risk...for less than 1/2 the price....hmmmm....
man my rears are baaaald. And it's raining like F.

EDIT: Well, I called the customer service line at tires-easy, and
verified the price and availabilty.
2 tires SHIPPED for $153, 255-40-17 for the rear.
Paid via Paypal.....gawd, crossing my fingers....
they said I'd receive in 3-5 days....

I would have got the Conti's - Yes they are noisy but they won't come apart & they look nice - if that bothers you.

Just fitted a new set of PS2s on my new wheels. Exalto's not available in the size I wanted. Expensive but excellent. I'm in love with Michelin all over again.

Be carefull in the wet with anything that has a UTQG rating of 420.

Yes, but they have nearly the same tread pattern as the

And here's the Fierce UHP- "◘ Directional tread design and natural-flow tread grooves help sweep away water"

They look quite nice. I don't like directional tyres because you can't change their rotation - This won't worry you - they don't last long enough. Don't believe all that crap. It's all **** & wind written by some Marketing geek.

UTQC Ratings:

PS2 = 220
Asymmetric = 240
GS - D3 = 280
Fierce = 420

The big difference in these tyres is their compounding - or in the case of the PS2 - dual compound.

You can't have it both ways. Soft compounding = grip - Hard compounding = slip

Simple

May not matter....they didn't ship them today....
this company is super shady...

EDIT: They shipped! Unfortunately from PA.So won't recieve for a freakin' week.
That means I gotta dig out my spare wheels and tires that have some tread left,
as my tires are as bald as Kojak.

I know those ratings are sometimes BS, but it will be interesting to see how long they last.
Thats the longest I've seen on a Ultra High Performance category tire.
Sumitomo HTRIII's last only about 5K, Fuzions about 10K....
If I could get 15-20K I'd be thrilled....especially if they perform as advertised.

75 a tire shipped isn't bad. Their shipping is high though.

Hey guys I have the same tire issues as you all lol.. I plan on buying some tires for my 18" rims after winter. I looked at all the cheap chinese crap on ebay and online but dont feel too good about those.. I am just looking for some normal tires to daily drive on I dont need crazy performance lol..

I found these Yokohama as430 brand tires through some site online.. They quoted me 345 shipped for a set in staggered fitment of 225 40 18 front and 255 35 18 rear..

is this a good price?

here is some info on the tire

seems to have a high thread rating but not too many reviews out there.. althought i did read they are pretty much the same tires as the Yokohama Avid H4 with a diff name..

What do you guys think?

UTQC 440 = Very hard compound = good life - poor grip.

Ha, well for me, my days of driving stupid fast on mountain road is over for now.
After spending a ton of money on suspension, and going through sticky tires like crazy
(and having fun doing it! The coupe can handle VERY well if properly equipped)
I just want something thats going to last more than 10K miles! And my car has 149K miles!

The cops have gotten wise, and appear in places regularly where they never did before.
Obscure back mountain roads.
I've been pulled over at least twice this year, and that was being very careful.
I beat one by going to court (cop was no show) waiting on the other for them to review my
Trial by declaration for a bogus tailgating ticket.

California needs money and the police are the new tax colllectors.
For me at least, longer tread life is more of a priority than maximum grip.

I noticed surfing the web that the Fierce's are the exact same mold as the old goodyear F1
's. Funny thing though, I can't seem to find 225-45-17's for a price close to what I'm getting the
rears for (255-40-17) Below is the old F1.

As far as Yokohama's are concerned, they're a good brand, good quality, certainly better than any very shady crap from China.
There was something I read about a huge amount of tires from China being recalled, for poor construction techniques.

I know with that high of a thread rating there will be less grip but as long as its not dangerous.. I just want oem type handling tires.. The long thread life is deff something i want too.. I dont have money to replace tires all the time.. is there any better tires in this price range 350 shipped for set of 225 40 18 front and 255 35 18 rear?

Ah well! hopefully they will arrive. You are not having much luck in these cash strapped times. Crap - another good friend of mine in the US has just lost his job after 25 years with the company he worked for. He is really worried - large mortgage, kids at college - tough times.

why go cheap on the most important thing on ur car? I look at it this way guys. Get a nice pair of tires that are known to be safe and have a reputable title. What's cheaper?? Saving 200-300 dollars or more to get cheaper tires or get into an accident and have to pay 500-1000 dollar deductible plus insurance hikes. Prime example or why not go to cheap. The FUZION HRI tires...great looking tire! looks like any other high performance tire has that directional pattern etc etc but reviews after reviews from car and driver etc etc they all said the tire performaed well in the begginning but after a long term test drive they failed to perform in a safe manor.

Big? Yeh. Hard to believe. But they fit tucked into the wheel wells and don't rub.

Thats the problem....I DO spin them. That's why they wear out so damn fast.
ASP Pulley, SS Header, Remus Muffler,Magnaflow Free Flow Cat, + Supercharger Muffler delete + MAF and Throttle body screen delete....
uh, yeh. They spin. Unless I set tranny to W.

@ the OP, I'm all with you man. I've burned out the inners on a set of Falken FK452 (not the BEST tire) but I'll never spend that much on tires on a lowered car ever again. Money save is money made my friend...I though I got hooked up @ $400 for all four tires mounted balanced, out the door. Thanks for sharing.

Dammit, they do rub! At least on the drivers side.
I couldn't find the exact specs on these, not available on the site.

They're bigger than the Fuzions they replaced, and the Sumitomo HTR III's before that.
Of course they originally came with 245-40-17, but I couldn't see the sense in that since the rear wheels end up being smaller than the fronts.
That would mean more revolutions per mile, and lower mileage.

The Bridgestone Re-050's I had back there when I 1st decided to go
with 255's vs. 245's rubbed a little.

These things are just massive....

I remember reading something about TEIN having an issue with the springs in their
CO's. I wonder if I'm having that issue.
