Check Engine Light - CPO warranty covered?
I drove the car for 21 miles (going home) with the average speed of 45 mph. Hopefully this won't cause any more issues.
Can I just bring this to any Mercedes Benz shop? or just to the MB dealership I got the car from?
Many people overlook this but the Major Emission Components Warranty is getting longer and better. With the new PZEV cars sold in CA and a few other states you get 15 years 150000 miles warranty on EVERY single Emission system on your car, regardless how many owners the car has had.
Good luck and let us know what caused the CEL, might help others in future.
well.. the closest MB dealership in my area is Star Motors at Old Katy Rd.. I haven't done service there.. I had a good experience with MB Sugarland but if it'll take them 3 hrs or more in fixing the issue, then I may end up getting a loaner - which i know they will charge me..
I got this car from Alex Rodriguez MB which is sooo far from me.. they provide a free loaner but they charge too much on other services.. last time I went there to have the car checked (ESP), they "required" me to have the rotors and pads replaced - stupid me - i paid for those too as i'm just concerned that i don't do damage on the car - but i guess the dealership doesn't care about that but just to get more from "clueless" customers like me :-(
i hope the CPO sticker in the car is enough for the dealership to confirm that this car is a CPO.. i haven't checked the paper works but they can run the VIN and confirm right?
i will update this as soon as i get the work done hopefully monday..
Re: Rotors and Pads, How many miles did you have when you changed them? it's actually not such a bad idea to get this done at the dealer. They provide a 90 day warranty usually. I had my fronts done and the new pad has not been sitting well, making a bit of squeak when I force the pedal, took it back to dealer and am getting new pads in January under their brake work warranty. My local dealer charged me about $500 CAD for my front sets which seemed very fair to me for quality MB product with warranty considering the parts would run about $330~$340 on their own.
I hope you bled the brake fluid at the same time? It's a good idea to do the brake fluid change the same time as rotors and pads.
I suggest taking it to the dealer who will give you a loaner for free to take the guess work out of it.
Good luck.
