Figured I would keep my thread updated that today is the day I was promoted to a Moderator.

On a more on topic update my car is great but really needs the flex discs done so that is on my priority list at the moment. I have the parts just need to pay some one to do it for me. Got to love always having something to do.

Are you showing symptoms of the flex discs or is it just the visual inspection that shows they're bad?

BTW Trey your C320 is way better than my C230

I have some drivetrain noise and have been told many times by the dealer they are bad. And thanks Matt my car is way superior to yours

Having been intimate with the flex discs before, I would be shocked if replacing them fixed any sort of drivetrain noise. They are big pucks of solid rubber. I can't imagine how one would deteriorate.
Im probably wrong, but I still wouldn't hold your breath that changing them will make a difference.

They crack is what happens.. it can cause vibrations. I don't know about noise, not too familiar with it. They're on my list to do to my car as well. Right after "Trade It In".

Flex discs don't seem to be expensive. RMEuropean has the flex disc kit for like $77.. you'll need two. My indy quoted me less than $200 to replace both in labor. Plus parts.

Yeah they can deteriorate till chunks of rubber fly off and can then start to cause vibrations. I honestly don't know how bad mine are but two dealers have told me about them and my car does have 172k so I figure what the heck and bought two of them. I figure that with my $100 off from the dealer coupon I will get it done Thursday.


I wondered how long it would take you to notice my fix to your post. and are you really going to trade it in or is that just your coping method you use?

It's my coping mechanism. I'm like the parent that always threatens.. I may as well be counting "Don't make me count to three". Eventually one day, like I've said in the past, I'm going to snap and trade it so fast its ECU will spin.

I had my eye on a white 2007 C230 6MT for sale in Atlanta with 40k miles. But they want too much for it at $18990.

No, but I'm intelligent enough to admit when I've made a mistake. Unless a second gen SLK350 manny falls into my lap, this is it for me. BTW - my CRX with 181k on the odo started up like a champ yesterday after sitting idle for 5 months. It's nice to have one car that I can rely on, even if it's over twice as old as the newer one.

My C230 has as reliable as any Honda I've had. The most problematic car for me was an Acura TL that had to be rebuilt basically from the ground up from 33k-70k miles. The car I've considered replacing my C230 with, the first-gen TSX, has message boards full of common problems like A/C compressor failures, suspension problems, etc - even a thread about the timing chain stretching on the 2.4L Honda engine and it jumping time! It can happen to any of them. Hell the water pump on my dad's IS350 imploded at 69,500 miles and coolant went everywhere.

My car's got busted castor bushings.. a weak spot for the W203. They're 133k miles old, it was past time.

I can admit when I made a mistake, too. Like with that Acura TL. This C230 was not one. A lot of it is me being **** about it and not wanting it to age.

Now an slk350 would be cool as long as it had some options. I have only seen on or two of them I guess most people just want a convertible. Whats your next car going to be then if not a Mercedes?
