Or Mini Roadster; that thing looks damn sexy. Being in the NE, another simple, small fwd roustabout that's decently reliable would be the ticket. I'm going to try to go back to a simple, fairly easy to service myself.

LIL - I like those 1st gen TSXes too. Actually, I LOVE the 2nd gen Legend coupes; they were sexy in the way those old MB coupe SELs were. Mmmm!

Tommy what about the Veloster?

The 1st gen TSX was a great car. Remember that Acura I mentioned falling apart? Well while it spent weeks upon weeks in the shop time after time, I spent that time driving those TSXes mostly - a few TLs here or there and once an RL. The AWD RL is also on my short list.

Oh great one, Samaritrey, is probably to ban us all for

Isn't it mandatory that you have to be over 65 to even sit in an RL?

The Veloster turbo ain't bad. I'm still a little bit uncertain about fit & finish in the Hyundais; I would have to take one for a longgggg test drive. The Genesit coupe is nice, but you can't get it with a sunroof and the LSD, which is a weird black hole to have in that car's line-up to me. It's also another oddity to me that is getting much more popular - a long 2-door, 4-seat, realistically sitting 2-person car. I'm 45, so no kiddie worries; do I really want a car that has a back seat, where I'm paying (in money and weight) for a parcel shelf that's very impractical?

A nice long drive would be nice, and so would $1.50 a gallon gas.
As it is, I'm sitting home all by mah lonesome trying not to spend any money,
(=boring!!!) which is so much more preferable to being with the insane woman who was my live in GF for 2 years, and was a raging you know what.
7 months since she was arrested assaulting me in a men's restroom, and I got a restraining order and moved. If it had been the other way around, I'd be a registered sex offender. The DA let her off. Fortunately I didn't hit her back, or I'd been the one arrested.
Ah, but I miss all the excitement and abuse!! Not.

Hey if I ask nicely? Ban me? Please? he he

Yeah, I was checking out the new Hyundai's.
Damn, they're not cheap ya know.
There's a new Toyoter (Scion) coming out thats supposed to be better for about the same price.
Veloster will have a turbo soon.

FIAT is trying to come back as an upscale brand! ha!
My X19 blew trannies every 60K miles.
I have a an old ad framed, that says 'drive the car Ferrari drives for $1999'. With a picture of Enzo standing next to a 128 sedan.
Ha, it says it comes standard with radials!!! Wow!
And a base 500 mini bread box is 16 grand.
I bet those selenoid driven valves are a nightmare.

Well my car is at 189,000 miles and going great. Just replaced the Acceleration Sensor as I was getting a esp every few days. Now after 100,000 miles the thermostat is acting up again and sticking in sometimes so I have bought a replacement just need time to install. I have been thinking about either a new car of putting some money back into the c320. I don't really know of any cars that I would like to replace my W203 besides a GLK or ML CDI both of which cost more than I want to spend right now but we will see.

THE C350
Decided I wanted to upload some pics

As you can tell I am just over 190,000 miles now
On my last oil change I found this

So it looks like I have a leaking rear main seal which would explain my oil consumption that ranges from 1quart ever 1,000 miles to sometimes 2 or 3 thousand. But as you can imagine I don't plan to do anything about it until it gets either really bad or my transmission goes out (knock on wood it is going well still but the other day it slammed into 3rd and scared the **** out of me but it has been fine since so IDK what to think of that)
I also found out something interesting about Stant thermostats. They are actually repackaged Wahler thermostats with the MB part number molded in them and the Mercedes logo scratched off. I was away form my dealer and didn't feel like waiting a week for a new thermostat as my car was running at all different temperatures so I went to advanced auto parts and this is what they had and it was only like $21 so not to bad at all.
The only other issue I have had recently is a few weeks ago I got a CEL on the way home from a ski trip (this is while thermostat was acting up no CEL for thermostat though) I figured it was for the thermostat so didn't check it till a few days ago and found out it was a fault for the MAF. I know my MAF is from 104,000 miles ago so I figure I will just buy a new one as it is probably warn out anyway so not going to bother cleaning it just buy a new one soon. I hope that is the reason my fuel millage has been bad recently but I guess we will find out. I have been researching new cars again recently and really like the 2004 CLK320 coupe as well as the 128i and ml350 cdi but still am considering just replacing all the worn out parts in the C320 and driving it another 10+ years but we will see

Trey, If you do decide to go for a CLK you will be happy. It really is a great car. I'm still delighted with mine. It's also very practical. If you do need to carry more than one passenger, access to the rear is easy & while the trunk is large if you do have to carry a large item the dropdown rear seats makes for a long load floor.

So today was fun I took out the MAF and TB for a good cleaning. The MAF has been acting up so I decided to clean it out and see if I could get it to last any longer. The MAF has over 100,000 miles on it so it doesn't owe me a thing but I really just don't feel like throwing it away if a good cleaning is all it needed. As for the TB it was really dirty and I couldn't believe how much oil is inside the intake manifold. I guess the car does have almost 200,000 miles so that is to be expected but still something I don't like to see.
I also sadly broke part of one of the breather tubes that goes down inside the TB. It broke off near the top so it barley penetrates the TB connector. I don't know if that is something to worry about or not any advice?
Here are some pics of the fun sadly I couldn't get a good pic of the intake.

So as of today I am at 196,000 miles and just a few days ago installed a new MAF. Decided that since I had a gift card to spend that paid for almost the hole thing to just go ahead and order one and see if it helped with my hesitation at start up or fuel mileage. Sadly it doesn't look to have fixed either issue but the car does seem to have more power and run smother. As my car is almost to 200,000 I have to do the Fuel filter again very soon as well as spark plugs as well. I also still have original spark plug wires which I have heard is not the best idea so will have to add them to the list. But really the only issue with the car at this point is the headliner which just this year decided to collapse and the driver door arm rest is cracking strangely. The arm rest won't be fixed but the headliner will need something done about it as it annoys the crap out of me. Taking a trip to Ithaca NY next weekend so that should be fun trying to get to 200,000 miles as that has been a longtime goal of mine to go 200,000 miles on original water pump, alternator, ac compressor, fuel pump ect.

Trey ~ has your car ever had new upstream O2 sensors? They might be getting lazy & causing stumble.

Nope they are original as far as I am aware. Should I put that on my parts list then? anything else you think could cause a stumble only when cold?

So Last week my perfect reliability was nicked. I had just gotten back from a trip to Atlanta and Athens GA around 2,000 miles and the next morning the first day of school it decides to die on me. It would either not charge at all or run at 14.5 to 15 volts. as well as skip back and forth. I got lucky in that my car was at GF's house and her parents let me keep car in garage to fix it. I tried to use a Bosch unit from a local parts store that cost me $145 but sadly the battery cable would not fit on it as my car had a Valeo unit. I tried to modify it to work but in the end destroyed the dam thing and got no where. Had to order a Valeo alternator from amazon cost about $215 and it fit perfectly and was installed in about 30 minutes! I will say that my car was a very good car in that it got me home from the trip and honestly failed at the perfect time so I can't be to upset it got me to about 199,600 miles just wish it made it to 200,000.

My first mercedes was a hand me down from my mom. She and my father bought it new in 1985. It was perfect until it sat in the hot sun parked for two years. Spent 1 year restoring it. Then, after she passed I put the car in storage in the garage. Drained the fluids, trickle the battery , so on. Housekeeper decided she needed to go somewhere one day and figured I'll just take the old mercedes real quick, so, with no coolant or oil, boom.

By the way I'm a former agent, still got my field jacket, lol
