What/where is R-button?

Hi, Guys:

For model 203 (2006 C280), at step 8, it said
that " push R-button for 3 seconds".
What/where is R-button though?

this is interesting... but... on my first oil change and service indicator reset. I was able to change the setting of the type of oil used.. from 229.3 or 229.5. I have never been able to get back into that service menu! any ideas? thanks

OK - Doors closed - Reset button in 7 O'clock position left of speedo (A) might have an 'R' printed on it, On steering wheel overlapping pages (B), button next to it (C), and button on top right hand side of steering wheel (D) - dont touch the phone buttons.

Ignition key to posn 1
Push B till mileage is displayed
Push A 3 times till it beeps
Ignition key to posn 2
Push C till message 'service display' is displayed
Push A once
'Oil type' will display
Push D till you have selected the oil spec you used - choices are 'standard', 'Qual 229.3' or 'Qual 229.5'
Push C
Message 'Confirm oil reset, press R button for 3 seconds
Push A for 3 seconds
Service confirmed will display
Push B till mileage is displayed
Ignition off

Good luck

I'm really glad that I've found this. I remember my service tech dude who works for me on the side, mentioned that this is a big no-no to the consumer. In other words, for tech eyes only. Personally, I like to do my own tweaking and car maintenance. Thank you for this.

Yeah! - The techs think we are all stupid. Meanwhile with some minor coaching & help from one another on this forum, most of us are fairly capable.

This advice has already saved me thousands of dollars since I bought my car in 2005. It's the reason why I'm proud to be part of this community.

One Second...

I remember resetting the error code on my car actually once before and I never changed the oil type or all that and the procedure was maybe 5 steps long, what is the difference between that procedure and this procedure?

Just do this as per pdf. at beginning of thread for service indicator. The other is for oil type change. Your car will be set for 229.5 - leave that alone

How come I dont get the final reset/confirm step? Instead it goes back to service indicator without prompting to reset. Any clue?

There are lots of 2002 Coupe's that get it right. PM C230 Sport Coup. He does all his own work on the car & owns a 2002. Ask him if there is a trick with the M111 engine.

I ended up finding the solution after browsing the forum for a while. I would love to give credit but I cannot remember who the OP was for that forum. Any how I had to turn the key to position 2 then use the page button to get to the service reminder then hold the ILL button down for 10 sec, then it asks if you would like to reset the service interval and you hold the ILL button for 3 sec to confirm. It was quite simple and has been buggin the hell out of me for about 6k now oh well how this helps others out.
