Experience with opening up headlight housings?
Hey
Recently I won a set of headlights off ebay, which were used.
I received my headlights from the UPS guy... I open it up and one of the chrome rings around the right side projector is off and is free to move around within the headlight!
Now, I basically have to bake the headlight to open it up and snap the chrome piece back in.
BTW i bought the headlights for 50$ + 60$ shipping, and they refunded me 80$ ... so basically I paid around 30$ for both lights which isn't bad even considering that I have to fix this little problem.
Is this an easy job?? :|, I read some online tutorials and watched some videos, but I wanted to see if anyone has experience with doing this to their own headlights. Im not too sure of the type of materials these aftermarket headlights are made of (probably extremely crappy), so im actually scared of melting them!

Which brand are those i have seen some aftermarket black ones with the same problem just wondering which brand it was. remember not to heat them any more than you have to just need to get the sealant warm so that you can get the front off.

its best if you use a heat gun. But yes, you can bake it. You can reseal it with silicone or oem nissan head light sealant, you can buy for $20 online.

When I opened up my BiX to get the shrouds painted, I was able to just use a hair dryer! I just heated up the seal and use a putty knife to pry it apart. Then I put a little bit of gray silicone sealer in there for a little extra protection and used the hair dryer again to heat up areas and squeezed the lens back in with some pliers. Can't even tell I was ever in there, no marks at all left on the housings.

Let me tell you guys that this job was the worst and the biggest PITA ever!
I spent literally 5 hours (1 fixing this stupid headlight) and 4 hours taking apart the bumper and installing this poor quality headlight. Then it was hard to put it back together! omg..
lol never again! Il post some pics

Dam the bumper is not that hard to get off. my first time only took me like 2 hours to get the bumper off and put my bix in. well at least you didn't break anything. can't wait to see some pics.
