Where did you have it done? Did you use an x-pipe? I've been contemplating doing this for a long time but don't know exactly what an x-pipe does. I already have a quad exhaust system.

I feel like im the first one to delete the resonator on the stock system. lol
I must give lots of credit to MB for having such a good sounding stock exhaust, its just detoned so much by the resonator..
Everything is stock; headers down to the cats then straight pipe down to the muffler. Its quiet and comfortable when idleing and crusing on the highway with no drone, but when you hit the gas with the windows down, its a loud deep throaty hummm [and it all cost me $30!].
To anyone and everyone who has yet to do so, i highly recommend it.

I wouldnt touch the secondary cats if i plan on passing smog. I believe the C320 only has 1 cat btw. The C230k sport has 2 cats.

I got it done at a muffler shop here in central valley cali, guy was nice and showed me everything he did. Go to any muffler shop, shouldnt cost you more than $50. Do yourself a favor and get the res delete.

The c320 has two cats. I believe all of the m112 and m113s have two cats.
Headers -> upstream O2 sensors -> primary cats -> downstream O2 sensors -> Secondary cats -> Y piping -> Resonator -> axle back.
Ive seen/heard c320s and c32s with the resonator and secondary cats removed. Sounds Super mean! The secondaries are hard to take out cuz not many exhaust shops will do it for ya cuz of potential liabilities. usually costs 100 in cash to make it happen
And it will NOT cause a CEL to go off. (its after both sets of O2 sensors for goodness sake!)

I called a few places today!
Car Spa has yet to call me back to let me know if they can do this sort of thing.
Midas... oooh. Cocky B/S spittin' grandfather mechanic over there. Apparently I have four cats and no resonator, and that he can't do it because it'd be illegal. He asked what car I drive. "I drive a Mercedes C2-" "No, we can't do that."
Anyone want to refer me to a shop in the Orlando area? haha.

what i mean is you need a shop that won't ask questions or care what type of car they are working on. Most of the nice high end euro shops won't touch something like this because they are worried about breaking a mercedes or getting in trouble for removing something that may be required by law. And i was using "wrong side of the tracks" as an expression. i drooped two friends off at universal i think it was and didn't want to go in with them. i love just driving so i spent 4 hours driving around Orlando and ended up in this really bad area don't remember anything about where it was though. Hopefully someone in Orlando can chime in on a good shop that will do this for you cheap. since all you want to remove is the resonator as long as you can prove to the shop that it is not required by law or for the car to run properly they should help you out. but some people hear mercedes and run for the hills.

and yeah what pipe would you use to replace where the resonator is? just a straight pipe? if so what dimensions would ya need i really want to get this done but can't find a place that will do it, especially without the part needed to reconnect it

03MBC320- I just called up a place on Colonial, Muffler City, near the Best Buy, across from Sweet Tomatoes. He does this and he provides the pipes. $45.00-$50.00 for straight pipe, $80.00-$90.00 for a Y-pipe. Should take about an hour, he says. I'm goin' in tomorrow, hopefully!

Aright just got back from getting it done and i'm pumped.
Laneshift Muffler City was great, I was in and out in under 45 minutes and let me watch it all happen, $45.
As for the results, the sound change isn't anything dramatic, as holycaoAMG said, its basically when you punch it, i really noticed it on the cars downshift. It made the note a little lower, more growlish (not the whine that a few people said they were nervous about). no droning, and at cruising speed and rolling/traffic lights, the exhaust sounds the same. deffinately what i wanted, kept the quiet/luxury of the exhaust and car, yet reminds you when you floor it that you've got a beast under the hood
Also holycaoAMG mentioned slighty better throttle response which i was interested in, before pulling out of the shop i did the ECU reset, which i've made a weekly thing. The car felt more responsive than it normally does right after doing the ECU, but again nothing at all to dramatic (could've been placebo lol)
I took before/after vids that i'm uploading to youtube right now (taking foreverr) so when those go through i'll post links
edit - after watching the video.. wow cant wait till they upload
