I thought this would happen, too late!

Hey guys:

Once again, i'm on here yet with another issue. Well to start off the story:

With time, i learned that the 2005 C230K front fascia (AMG Sport), it was difficult to adjust to PARKING. That's right parking. It was many times by front bumper/under body would get caught in one of those cement stops sometimes found in individual parkings. Some have metal rods to each end. Well when i first got the car, it was hard to measure out how far to go into the parking spot since i've had incidents in getting the bumper pulled.

Fast forward 1.5 years later, the under body started tearing into pieces since it was loose from all the metal rods "grabs" to the point where pieces of it had to be cut. Lately i was dealing with my car's front bumper under body falling and dragging on the pavement while in motion. Even turning the wheel left and right it would start shredding the underbody (where it covers the passenger side fog light under the wheel well). These past 2 months i've just been tucking it in with the rest of the under body and not have to deal with it for 1-2 weeks. Tonight was the night! I heard it drop onto the pavement 3/4 of a mile from my home. I figured im not far frm home, so i'll keep going. I was ready to pull in when my car suddenly slowed down. I knew something went wrong or really loose. I saw steam coming from the front of the car. What do you know, it was anti-freeze. One of the hoses from the reservoir tank for the antifreeze had been pulled. I bring out the work lights and come to find out this little solenoid looking thing that i guess measures something (clips on the reservoir tank with a small harness connected to it) was pulled apart and leaked all my radiator fluid. I left the car parked until the issue is resolved. I'm planning to visit the dealer or find a yard that has this part. Only problem is i'm not sure what the part # or name of it is. I have a picture attached. Can someone post a diagram of the reservoir tank and it's parts? I would like to address this ASAP! Possibly a link or place where they might sell or have a used parts yard for the mercedes as well (to get the under body and parts to replace that were damaged)

Thanks in advance guys.

Chris

I see no pictures. I'm sorry, Chris, but you really gotta pay more attention. The AMG fascia is easily damaged. I've had my car since July 2008 and have put 50,600 miles on it (so it's been in a lot of parking spots at places) and have had a single run in with a curb. It was not the cars fault, it was mine for not paying attention. I did no damage to the radiator, but the slight bumper damage drove me crazy. I hit a dog shortly after and did a little more damage, insurance fixed it and it was $1800.

Edit: There are the pics. Maybe Glyn and post an explosion diagram.

Pics posted. Sorry i was still uploading them and had accidently posted the message before the the pics.

But yeah, i've learned my lesson now. I just need help with diagram, part # and possibly a place to get these parts replaced at a good price (junk yard, crashed car parts on the forum). Please if anyone can chime in, please do so with parts i need. Since we're on the subject of parts, i also need a interior door handle (black interior) for the passenger door since the current one broke off. And a hood latch since i just discovered tonight that it broke off as well with the 3 slat black CLK grille. oh man!

My hood latch makes scary noises sometimes, sounds very fragile. How many miles are on your car?

Ummm i think im about to hit 77K. I bought the car used at a Santa Monica, CA dealer that sells Benz and BMW at 37,234 miles i believe the date of purchase was Oct 26th, 2007. I can still remember me hustling the sales man for a good price. Hey, originally they wanted $25,999 but i ended up bringing it down to $22,800 out the door. lol

Looks like you've pulled the coolant level sensor out of the surge tank. rmeuropean have stock.

see diagrams here

Hmmm. I saw the diagram but the part that got ripped is not pictured. It definitely not the coolant level sensor at the bottom of the tank. The part that got ripped. I think i found a reference to get a bit closer to solving the issue. On rmeuropean i found a pic of a lower radiator hose. ON the picture I listed (lower rad hose) the part connects to the left side of the lower Radiator hose and clips on to the expansion tank (reservoir tank) is the part that ripped from the lower radiator hose. Like i mentioned, it looks like a small solenoid/started shaped part with two pins that connect to a harness coming from the expansion tank.

Are you looking for the part number on the hose or the pump? The pump that connects right there is for the heater in your car.

You don't have a big issue so sit tight

I don't believe the hoses got affected, but the little metal pump did, since it is plastic at the bottom, it broke off with the force of the pulling.

Oui! That's the part! Sorry, mine is all jacked up! Plus i'm at work and don't leave until 6pm from Downtown LA. That's the whole part that got messed up. The whole little unit there (well the bottom portion that's black plastic). I still have the rubber ring that keeps it in place and the harness, but other than that, the bottom plastic piece is torn in two. That's what you can kind of see on my pics. That's where it broke off, and also where it connects to the main fatter hose that circulates the water/anti-freeze mix. I need that whole unit.

KrisV420, any chance you can post more pics of the part itself, also some less zoomed in shots so i have an idea how it looks and when i get the part to help me visualize how the parts will go!

Thanks bro!

Chris

So i called MBZ of Anaheim. Using the part number that's on the black plastic piece of the pump, it's a "Auxiliary Pump" part # 203 835 01 64 priced at $222.00

Oh man, i didn't notice it was on RM Euro's web site! I wonder why i wasn't able to look it up via catalog under cooling parts.

OK - I'm with you now - it's the Aux pump. Could not work out your pic. rmeuropean are pretty good. I only use them.

Shout if you need more diagrams & I will try & help.

Please be careful parking in future. If you start messing up aircon sensors etc you will be in for a big bill.

Hey! Thanks Glyn!

lol I will be more careful and responsive towards any issues with my vehicle. So far so good. I ordered from RM European. 159.XX shipped and also 16.50 for a gallon of anti-freeze from MBZ.

Glyn, would it be too much if i ask for that diagram to get an idea what i'm going to be doing? It looks straight forward but a diagram never hurts to check out...

Kris beat me to it. This is the best diagram you are going to get from the MB tech HVAC training course presentation. Diags in WIS are plain vanilla.

Dang dawg! You got this lil project on "lock-down" lol

Thanks for all your help fellas! As of right now, im waiting on RMEuro to deliver the parts (Pump & Anti-corrosion/Freeze) to my door. Might as well flush the system since it's mainly already drained. I thought i saw a DYI online here.

Again, thanks for all your help!

Chris
