M272 oil consumption

M272 oil consumption
I know the M271 engines have issues with consuming oil/low oil level warnings but should I be worried about oil problems(leaks, burning, etc.) if I will have a M272 engine?

some early m272 engines were reported to have some oil consumption issues. I haven't heard of any widespread issues in the C class however. One off issues can happen to any engine.

The m272 is pretty good with oil consumption. Me personally I had an oil leak from the cam plugs and I thought it was consuming oil. The dealer even did an oil consumption test and said it was fine. Which it wasn't...basically after visiting dealer 8 times and warranty almost ending I did my own test. I started to feel around the engine then I found the oil leak.
After the fix (knock on wood) I have never had a problem with the oil light coming on.

That sounds like the problem I might be having.
Would you be able to explain precisely which seals?

Thanks, all. This is the wife's GLK350. I do always check and mark the dip stick length. Just ordered 5 quarts M1 0W-40 for the GLK and the BMW and will give it one last try with the evacuator and some of these tips before I contract out the work.
