Eletronic guru . chime in ,curtain air bag question.
What would be the appropriate resistor value to plug in to evade the air bag symbol on dash ? Im more of a mechanical guru then electronic

How do you know this is a curtain airbag thing? I've not heard of this ever being done, so I'm not sure it can be - or why you'd want it to be.

It's your car and life.. you do know that the SRS light being on indicates the entire system is no longer functional? No airbags, no seatbelt pre-tensioners. If you know this, good.. I'm just putting it out there because a lot of people don't understand it.

well when you remove any airbag and put it back it has to be cleared from the system with star which i don't think any dealer will do if you took them out. what are you doing that would require you to take them out? i don't think a simple resistor would trick the system but i may be wrong continuing what matt said i would no longer trust any of the airbags would go off in a wreck if you had a resistor instead of a full airbag.

Well this has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I have heard yet. Please rethink this. You're going to ruin the car with whatever mod this is. I don't mean to offend you, just trying to change your mind.

Guys, its only a curtain air bag....looking back few years, we didnt have those from factory , its not a big deal. They only deploy in the event of a roll over, and i dont plan on doing that , lol, remember its a C230 or 1/4mile = a week? lol :P

Airbags with a seatbelt fastened low and snug are flat worth the price of admission. To consider operating without the system is beyond foolish.
The electronics that supervise the SRS are smarter than a simple resistor. Please don't experiment. An unintended deployment can feel like you were tagged by boxer George Foreman. With one of his grills.

so i am the lawyer representing negroc230. i need help prosecuting Mercedes for faulty airbags which put my client 10 feet under. He was Fing with them and they blew up braking his neck which killed him. so i am suing mercedes for not making them safe enough. i figure his estate is owed 5 trillion dollars for his horrible death. So i need all of you to disappear so that we can proceeded with the case playing dumb and winning millions in damages. Thank you

I would like to know what mod you are planning that is worth destroying the value and safety of your vehicle.
"Guys, its only a curtain air bag....looking back few years, we didnt have those from factory"
I don't really find this argument logical since you can apply it to anything including removal of seat belts.

you need to download the service manual to find out air bag voltages. Or you can get a volt meter and try measuring the voltage and reversing the math to find the correct resistor. Be warned resistors get really hot, so you might need a heat sink or a put it in a areas where it can cool...IE dont put a uncooled resistor with a bunch of other wires.
You might want to PM glyn, since I believe has a copy of the w203 service manual.

Whoa misinformation. Only deploy in the event of a rollover? To my knowledge the C230 has no rollover sensor. These deploy in side-impacts. What difference does it make how slow the car is if a speeding car T-bones you? So you don't "plan" on having an accident. Do you think that people plan these things? Dense much? Logic FAIL.
Also, if you cannot bypass it, you will lose the pre-tensioning devices in the outboard belts.
