Sick and Tired of that NASTY cloth interior DIY

so finally today i got fed up with my cheapo MB cloth interior in my 2002 C230 Coupe and decided it was time to take them off for a good wash and maybe reupholstering. this is for all you guys with the cloth interior in your MB (i know its a MB and comes with **** cloth). OK there are a few things your going to need before you start off.

1. about 45 min to 1 hour depending how handy you are
2. a set of torx screw adapters and sockets and a flathead screwdriver
3. some beer
4. patience

1. Removing the Seats from the Vehicle
OK to start off you must remove the seats they are held down by 4 torx. you will need the torx sockets for this this should take you around 10 mins a seat. once you are done you need to start taking the back panel off which is also held down by 2 small torx screws. Once this is complete the seat covers are held in by something similar to a clip. you must take your time a remove each individual clip for the seat to come completely off. you do this all the way around inside of the panel you have just removed. Once this is complete go to step 2. !! dont forget to remove any wiring attached !!!

2. Removing the Top seat cover
to do this you must first remove the clips inside of the panel you have just removed. once this is complete you must remove the side pieces ( the plastic things ) there are about two screws per side and they are torx. once these screws are removed the plastic pieces can come out and you can access the part where the seat cover is being held down. remove those and any other one by just pulling them down and they release. do this all around till you have successfully removed every single one.

2.1. cont.
once ever "clip" thats holding down the seat cover is released you may begin to tug on the seat cover gently to loosen it up a bit. now you will need a small flathead screwdriver. there are around 10-15 clips holding the cover down behind. you will remove these one by one by using the flat head screwdriver and pushing on them !!DO not PULL on them!! once this is complete the cover should be fairly loose and movable. now go forward and remove the clippings and so by slightly pulling them.

3. removing headrests
to remove the head rests you must place a flat head screwdriver in between the metal and the part holding it in. slowly pry away the headrest from the plastic and it they should come loose and this is good for if you want to change your headrests to something else. once this is complete pull out the top seat cover and your done!

4. removing the bottom cover.
to do this you must get a flathead screwdriver and pry it between two clips there is a plastic lining so done be afraid that you'll break something. do this all the way around the bottom portion of the seat and the cover should come loose. once this is complete the same clips that were holding the top portion in are along the bottom as well. do this all the way around until all the clips are removed.

5. once you have removed the seat covers you can throw them in a washing machine and let them wash to get all that filth out.

pics coming as soon as my camera is charged!!

I have leather, but it's beige. Which means the fabric covered kick panels on the doors are also beige, and extremely dirty. Any specific product I should use? I was thinking Oxy Clean and a brush...

any before and after pics? Any reason you couldn't just use a fabric vinyl cleaner?

Interesting. Mine are leather, but I've been thinking heated seats would be nice, but was hesitant about taking the covers off. It sounds like it would be less of a challenge than I was thinking (only upholstery I've played with was on a '78 Spitfire, which was not easy).

+1 on waiting on pictures!!!

A lot of Coupes came with cloth. As a matter of fact, getting leather the first six months was hard.

Gosh, I remember seeing the cloth interiors at the dealer when buying my coupe in 02. The ones I saw were horrid and reminded me of the patterns on a high school cafeteria table.
