Sportcoupe armrest problem

Hello from madeira portugal to all of you mbenzers.
Im new to this site and to be honest quite new to a mercedes life.
Recently started driving Sportcoupe 200 kompressor from 01.
I was having some problems with the center armrest cause it had some holes on it and it was in poor condition so I bought a new one.
Now Im having so much trouble removing the armrest in order to put the new one.
Can anybody help me with the process like a guide or summin??

Also, end of last week lost my key. Does anybody know where can I buy clean uncut mercedes keys for my model at a reasonable price? My dealerships ask me for 300, and i find that a joke.

Please help me with these two probs.

x x ra portufg

Ebay for key.

Pics needed of the arm-rest... but typically there are screws from the inside that need to come out, as well as possibly some on the outside (experience with OTHER cars, not MB)

MB’s of all kinds.
If you push in both the side buttons at the same time on the arm rest the part should pop right off. This happined to my cousin on his 04 C240 4Matic. Except he did it on acident.

As amdeutsch said in his normal charming way, misinformation is not good.

As you can see by the one pic that works for me, as well as his year 2001, he doesn't have the updated armrest that you have, he has the original one with the split handle in the front.

To original poster, are you talking about the armrest cover, or the entire assembly from the ashtray to the rear seat? I can't really tell from the one pic that works for me which you're talking about.

Session has a very good writeup about removing the center console that I think you might have to do in order to get the entire area between the seats off. If it's just the cover, do a search on a thread that I started about replacing the cover.

I'm not really getting this now. I see that the pics are of the damaged armrest cover. If that's the case, then don't you already know how to remove it?

Or are you just trying to replace the armrest cover itself from the overall assembly? If so, you didn't need to remove the entire assembly. You just need to wedge in a small screwdriver in between the back of the armrest and the plastic of the trim piece, and just work it free slowly and surely from several places. My thread on this matter would help. Then to put the new armrest cover back in, just make sure to line up the two internal prongs, and mesh the teeth of the piano hinge together, and the new cover will slide into place.

Let me know if I'm off-base; your posts have been a bit confusing, so I'm trying to guesstimate what you're looking for.

Find my thread on replacing the armrest cover. There is some helpful information on there. Basically, once you get to the point where you have removed all that I did in that thread, you should see a set of bolts which attach the entire assembly to the floor.

Once you remove those, I'm unfortunately out of the area that I know about. You'll have to remove the rear ashtray and look in the cavity to see how the rear of the assembly - I think that it's just pressfitted in there, and you just carefully slip it out from around the HVAC vents, but not sure about that.

At some point, once you remove the pieces that you can see visually when everything is in place, it's all a matter of taking off bolts and forcing things apart. I just haven't gotten to removing the entire assembly myself, and I don't think that I remember seeing anyone else here doing it. So you may be waiting on further information that may not be coming from anyone here.
