How to change a 2005 + C230 sport with Bi-xenon bulb
I own a 2005 C230 Sport Kompressor with stock Bi-xenon headlights (with D2S bulb 6000k light output). I was wondering if anyone here has been able to change or replace the D2S bulb personally. the MB manual doesn't really help and instructs you to contact dealer to get it done because of the gas contained in the housing. I believe there must be a DIY instruction to follow. The manual also said so about the foglight but i replace the bulb by myself. Any help with instructions and if possible pics please. Want to upgrade from the 6000k to the 8000k cool blue bulbs. thanks
The bulbs sold by the dealer and more expensive brands may be better quality but it's up to you on which you'd like to go with.
Honestly, if you prefer OE quality, then you're going to spend more for it. Check out brands like Osram (Philips) for fair pricing (I've even seen some on ebay).
this is what mercedes is selling you but for way less.
I have an extra bix that i bought for parts and could get some good pics for you if you want let me know. I would go with the Philips bulbs because they are not that expensive and will last longer then the cheap crap.

thanks for the post. Yes i would very much like to see some pics if you are willing to send them. What color temperature do you have 6000k or 8000k? So this ebayer you buy from is reliable and has got good stuff? how much does he let them go for? thanks man

My beautiful headlight lol

Ok once you remove the cap you see the connector for the igniter.

You can see the way it lock on from this pic

that is what it looks like once you twist it off before you pull it out.

There is the bulb with collar locking it on. turn the collar left and pull it off. (be careful if the bulb does come out with it don't drop it.)

There is what it looks like with no bulb in the projector. notice the grove cut out for the wire on the bulb.

Ok that is the connector with the bulb in it notice the wire is on the bottom and the grove on the collar is off center to the left when inserting back into car don't touch bulb.

better picture of what is was describing.
And final results

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
thanks for the pics mand and all the assistant. I'll try to print it out and see if i can get it done right. thanks again
Just changed the xenon bulbs on my c55 2005. I didn't have the collar, instead there were a spring that hold the bulb into place. Can it be different on cars sold in Europe? I don't know though if I got it right since it's still daylight out... But they do light up as they should.

Any ideas?
I tried doing this today, but I am worried about twisting the wrong thing. Do I twist the black cap with the electrical warning stick on it??
It goes back together fairly easily. Make sure the bulb is sitting flat and the collar has the top part up (it says top on it)
Also just to make sure you guys are not stupid make sure that the car is off Keys are away from ignition and the headlights are off.... I have shocked myself being stupid and it hurts.
