Check Engine Light: P2188 & P2190
I recently did a service B on my 2006 C230 Sport Sedan. I change the oil with Mobile 1 0W-40. I also change the oil/air/air condense filter.
Now two day later i received a check engine light. The codes are P2188 and P2190. I'm guessing the light came on when i turn the heater on? Since it was one of the possibilities .
I google the codes.. but it is leading me to two different possibilities.
The mileage on the car is almost at 34,000.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
Would this loose air filter be the cause for my car to idle funny in the morning? When I turn it on it sorta rev up a little then calm down.

Oh maybe haven't paid attention until now that the check light Is on
The rev this time.. It rev about 3-4 times by it's self then stop.
Yeah I'll definitely check up on my air filters.

~50K, my local dealer recommended to change the air filter. I did some research on youtube and found a video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT6L9pPf2Fc ) on how to change it. I used K&N filter and it boost performance a bit I think. Make sure you secure the cover with the throttle body! If you don't secure your cover with the throttle body, dirty air could get in and the Engine Light will come on after less than 100 miles driven. If you get Engine Light on, bring it to AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts to check for free. You will likely get these codes P2188 & P2190 (Mass Air Filter -MAF) failure. All you need to do is to reseat it correctly and drive for about 100 miles. The Engine Light should go away by then. I've just experienced this. Dealer wants $800+!

Repositioned, cleared code and light comes back on..
I recently have had the same problem where I took off the air filter housing to inspect the engine must not have put it back on right. Now I am getting these two trouble codes. So, I repositioned inspected it over the throttle body reattached the hose on the airfilter housing, cleared the codes and less than 40 miles later get the same codes again. I think when I initally moved it, and the codes came on it broke the mass airflow sensor somehow?
If anyone can suggest anything, that would be great. I am going to move forward on ordering the new sensor and installing it and see if that works.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

***Update***
Just came back from my indy and he ran the Star diagnostic. He said it was the mas flow sensor like he told me over the phone. He wanted to order the part, labor. 400 bucks Not bad but no thanks. I told him to clean it and clear the codes. No problem. Charged me 120 bucks I'll take that. Next time I am going to clean it myself Sometimes that's all it is needed. FYI.

I just change my air filter and oil then this code P2188 came out ! What I did was I added a filter screen on the air filter , so now I took it out and drive it for the next few hours and wait for the outcome. Hoping that this will solve the problem.

Be sure to press in the four snug tabs of the dual filter housing. If the rear two (the ones nearest firewall) aren't seated then the mass air flow sensor housing has a weak seal with leaks. This will cause your "too rich bank 1/bank 2" codes. This usually happens when you change your air filters. Good luck.
