I got a new toy today:
Yes, that is a STAR Diagnostics Multiplexer and cables. Still working on getting the laptop and software installed (Thanks again Karo
) Should have everything working shortly. I plan on tackling some issues I have 1st, then maybe some digging around in Developer Mode.

and i should have it i am a computer guy. if the multiplexer was cheaper i would have had one years ago.

Excellent! Aren’t you a computer expert by profession?
I get queasy just plugging my data logger into the OBD port.
Trust you’ll be able to solve that pesky camshaft sensor malady straight away.
Hope to read of you exploiting the ECU’s nuances in due course.

the speed limiter cannot be removed.
what you can do is change the octane settings from 88 to 93, alarm chirp, change the idle RPM to +150, thats as much stuff besides the other xenon settings, etc

A lot of stuff can be done with this. Especially in Developer Mode
Speedlimiter (don't know about rev limiter)
Chirp
No Seatbelt Chime
Fuel reading
Turning off Side Markers (easiest way is to disable warning lool)
Cornering Fogs
Raise alarm volume
Lowering for Airmatic cars
A lot of stuff can be done but one must know how to use it. Everytime I play with STAR i learn more features.
Speedlimiter (don't know about rev limiter)
Chirp
No Seatbelt Chime
Fuel reading
Turning off Side Markers (easiest way is to disable warning lool)
Cornering Fogs
Raise alarm volume
Lowering for Airmatic cars
A lot of stuff can be done but one must know how to use it. Everytime I play with STAR i learn more features.

You can actually mod the Comand and put any picture you want. I know some guy who put the AMG logo on there. I'll see if I can find out how to.

John, here is example of Developer mode. Don't mess around with it too much it's just to get familiar with it. This is ME97 as you can see on the bottom VMAX that's the speed our car is limited. Jack that puppy up if needed. But I left it the same. I honestly don't see why the limit should be changed. Unless I have warrants or something 
Edit:
Forgot to say, the max you can do is 250km which is about 155mph. I guess the AMG guys are already at this speed

Got mine for $550. There is one guy selling them for $450 now on Ebay

Already have my VMAX at 250Km/hr via a visit from Sunil

Couple people have asked for an update on whether I got this running or not. The answer is "almost". Installing STAR is not really cut and dry and takes FOREVER. Started installation this morning and it said "210 minutes to complete". Will keep everyone updated how it goes.
