Woah, crazy updates.

Yes, the high beam portion of the headlight is tinted yellow with a stained glass yellow spray from Michaels. The retrofit is going to kick so much ***. Honestly, it will perform better than the OEM BiX, no doubt about it. After comparisons and research, I finally decided, with the aid of Mike, to go with FX-R because they are a bit smaller than the E55 ones, which is important to me because I really want to keep the OEM look by using the DEPO shroud. Sitting in Mike's car was eye opening, because his S2000 projectors pwn the isht out of anything I've seen so far, even the TL projectors. In fact, it's so great, that it literally becomes a wall of light! I seriously became paranoid when I realized how little light the Depos actually produced when I was driving home from his house.

The most important part to me is probably the cutoff. It is SHARP, you can look at the shots above and see how nice it is. There is no light above the cutoff, which could blind oncoming drivers, and is probably the worst problem with the depos. I seen the E55 projectors, and they really, really don't impress me at all. Plus, with all the parts I bought, it still amounted to less than the discounted price of a set of OEM BiX. Although autoleveling is great, I wouldn't care if I had it or not. It's expensive to actually get all the sensors and modules to make it work, and I don't even want to think of labor. Plus, all I need to do is aim it well once, and autoleveling becomes a very expensive "coool" toy.

Thanks Splinter; headlights are a DEFINITE necessity, and I recommend anyone who plans on getting Depo's to do a retrofit some time. I really really hate myself for not doing this earlier, even though it was one of my first "Wants" when I started modding.

Will I be able to swap out the projectors on the oem bix with the FX-R? I hate the oem bix they dun have a nice cutoff and light output...even with expensive bulbs you still get less output than any other imports

Yeah its the projector on the first link. The fit and finish isn't quite up to oem level so I did have to mod some of the alignment holes since they didn't line up perfectly. Not a big deal, but annoying.

We basically we just added washers in the bottom of the projector to give it more color.

i wouldn't hack the oem bi-xenons, its not really worth it. I would just sell the oem bi xenons and just get aftermarket head lights and just retro those.

You can get little more light if you upgrade to 55watt ballasts. Also if you had the bulbs for a long time, you might want to invest in some new oem philips bulbs. Older bulbs color shift over time and lose output.

Mike strikes again with the Retro project! Haha.. The project is looking good man!

But for reals, the retro is worth it. I probably should of took/posted the pics I had when i was doing mines lol. But yes, nothing beats the SHARPNESS of a Nissan/Honda Projector cut off...

I'm very happy with the way my project came out with lots of help from Mike (TemjinX2).

Mike, as far as the headlight cover goes on the Sonars, did you pierce a small hole on the rubber covers? I found a giant mosquito inside my housing last night lol

Yeah man, I was looking forward to some pics. I figured yours might have been easier since I had to fabricate some brackets to fit my s2k's.

Yeah the s2k's, tsx, fx are all made by stanley. They probably make the best hids projectors in production cars.

Anyways, bring out your car some time to one of the meets. I'm interested in how the retro came out. Or maybe some wall shots.

I don't remember. I don't even have any dust covers on mine. I just left it open since i was too lazy to mod them to fit.

Shouldn't be much more than a ballast/ignitor swap

But this project is delayed; no info on the sealant yet. I hope it ships out tomorrow, so I can finally see past 10ft in front of me, hahaha.

would it even need to be swapped? wouldn't you just bypass all of it by unplugging the connector at the back of the headlight and plugging it into the new ballast (such as ddm), drilling a hole in the dust cover to feed the wire through for the new 55w bulb.

That it what I was thinking Dingleberry. I would love to upgrade my OEM BI-Xenon to 55W bulbs.

the only thing that sucks for people with factory 35w xenon is that you'll have to splice into the factory wiring to hook up the ballast, since all of them are 9006 connector type.

something like this would work

I always try different bulbs I am using some japanese ones right now GARAX 6000K still not as bright as other cars. Guess i gotta do the 55W hid kit and see if it will be better since there aren't any aftermarket headlights for coupes

like i said, i would recommend against opening up oem bi-xenons. They just lose too much of there value if you mod them. I would just keep it stock and mod some aftermarkets.

Mugenx and I finally finished the retro. We probably put in about 20hrs of work. It came out a lot better then expected...very oem. It very difficult to tell if it was modded with hid projectors from just the looks.

Mugenx applying the sealant

finished product

Oem like seal.

Mugenx installing the head lights

Mounted on the car.

Here's a wall shot. My garage door is brown so it kills a lot the color. On a white wall you would see a lot more color.

right beam

left beam

overall beam

here's a video of the bi-xenon feature. Basically we tapped the bi-xenon into the halogen high beam wires so he had duel high beams.
