Mugenx Depo FX-R retro thread
Anyways, Mugenx some how convinced me to help him on his FX-R HID retrofit into a Depo head lights.
The FX-R is a replica of a Bi-Xenon HID projector from a Infinite FX.
The FX-R has a sharper, more color cut off then the OEM-Bixenons. There also slightly brighter with a larger beam width.
He's probably 80% done. The projector alignment was perfect since the projector bolt with the stock mounting holes.
The shroud required a lot of work and cutting. If you bought a e55 hid projector, its probably a direct swap. It looks the same and you can reuse the head light shroud.
Here are some pics, there should be more wall shots once we got them on the car.

As you can see the cut off is sharper and it has a shorter Z step

The camera can't shot it very well. But theres a lot of blue and purple at the cut off. There 4300k chinese bulbs.

we should have some later in the week. We're waiting on the head light sealant to come in. Then its just all about sealing the head light and mounting it.

Hey guys, just woke up.. lol.
Thanks for all the complements. I'm so happy with the way they are looking; color is amazing with hints of the entire color spectrum. There's some red, a lot of blue, some purple, but no yellow
The beam is so sharp I couldn't believe the crap I was driving with for the past 2+ years. Guys with Depos; take some time and get a retro, it's so much more worth it. Best part about it? It will be an actual BiXenon headlight. The solenoids that came with the projector work, and soon I'll have a OEM BiX lookalike, but 10x buffer.
Not yet, the sealant hasn't come in yet, but will most likely be finished in the next week.
Jon! Exactly, I couldn't stand it no more and bugged the crap outta Mike for a retro, lolol. He's the man, and can make it happen, and I'm so happy I can finally compete with the import crowd. Cuz honestly, as Mike has said, the OEM BiX is pretty un-Mercedes like in terms of output.
And no matching, decided to stay with the chrome look because frankly, I think it looks better with the yellow-tinted highbeam area. Plus, it looks classier to me now, harhar.

Youre lights are looking pretty good. I just my projector headlights in and about ready to do the same thing but ive decided to wait for the s2k-r projectors. I'm also using the gatling gun shroud, how much of it did you have to cut?

^^ yeah was gonna ask the same thing
also, maybe we can get a DIY post up on this in a little more detail? seems a lot of people on this site either a) Have depos and are doing their best to ignore the poor cutoff and beam pattern, b) are waiting to buy oem bix because the depos aren't good enough, or c) are sitting with stock halogens because they dont want ****ty light output and cant afford bix (me!)
or at least the materials needed and about how much $$ it costs to do. and where did you find just the FX-R projectors? came separately from a headlight? or did u have to buy the whole assembly??

its pretty easy man..just diy. I think there already is a diy on here for them.
Just use a heat gun or do the oven trick to take off the head light cover. Tape off the areas you don't want painted. Then first coat, then wait 5min, then second coat then wait 5min and then last coat and wait 15min
then repeat the same steps with the paint. You probably only need 2-3 coats.
If you want a glossy look add 2 coats of clear coat. No clear coat if you want a flat color look.

Looks good, TemjinX2 and Mu9enx.
wth is your problem? edtv82 insists his off-Broadway junk is “auto leveling”… https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...ng-issues.html
Save for a suitably upgraded engine and chassis, the investment in proper OE European-specification headlamps has proven its most worthy upgrade to date.
