MB Brake Pad WARRANTY SUCKS

My friend has an Audi a6 2.7t or something like that... He claims that audi replaces his break pads for free as part of the warrenty... he claims that audis warrenty is amazing.. they replace burnt out bulbs and ware and tare items. As far as i know MB charges 190 for there ****ty break pads.... why doesnt benz have as good of a warrenty as AUDI. or do they and iam i mistaken or is my friend mistaken.

benz will replace burnt out bulbs. they've even done that past warranty. as for brake pads, i don't know of anybody except for napa brake pads, that will replace them free of charge. napa pads have the lifetime warranty that allow you to go in and switch them out for free. or at least they used to. dont know if it's that way anymore.

i highly doubt any car company would replace wear items for free. however, if audi does replace all wear items for free, have your friend stock up on some rotors to hand out or sell. it's free money.

Audi does replace wear and tear items under the "free service" far of the warranty.
Brake pads, wiper blades, etc.
Not tires.

Post BRAKE pads

Sounds to me like Audi has to give away brake jobs to sell cars. I dont know about anyone else but I bought a Benz cause its a good car, not for free brake pads.

Mercedes C200K Coupe
Volvo gives four times brake pads changes for free! 3 years warranty and 3 years free service.
Jaguar gives a bumper to bumper warranty... they'll even change the windscreen for free!!!!!
Audi's warranty is in between the Jag and Volvo. I'm not sure if its similar to the Jag... But last time I checked it was great. it comes with five years warranty!

Yet my cool and great mercedes had only one year warranty! and every thing costs money... even checking it would cost me 300 bucks! (just to see whats the problem!)

I took it in Friday morning pick it up friday evening and again it happened, 10mins after picking it up, back it went Friday night.

I got a brand new Vectra on Saturday morning, its no merc but because I'm under 25 can't be loaned a merc don't tell me that before purchase, not so good, but its wheels.

So its supposed to be ready today fingers crossed I will post later with update.

Just got a call form dealer will not be ready today calling in head of tech in uk seems to be on board computer problem.

Does anyone think this could be related to my radio install, Mercedes haven't metioned it yet.

The fault was still apparent with out the radio head unit in car, so it can't be the radio due to no power going to the amps etc, can it?

I thought pads were included in the list of wear and tear items that can be replaced under warrantee in te first 20K or 40K kms? I'll go back and reread my warrantee package info.

Mazda changed my Rotors and Pads on my car because they wore within 5,000 miles.

Audi did not replace my friend's clutch, they claimed he raced his car...

It really depends on your relationship to your dealer. I broke my speaker grill twice so far, and MB has replaced it both times without charge.

LOL. Unfortunately, the only really misspelled word was "warrenty". "Ware", "tare" and "break" are valid words --- some amount of knowledge of the English language is required. You know how schools are today -- as long as it sounds right... :p

or,
unforchinitly...sum amount of nolidge ... sounds write...

You drive a Mercedes but you cant afford brake pads?

As with most car companies this is considered a maintenance item and therefore the responsibilty of the owner. Warranties are for Manufacturers Defects not wear and tear.

If BMW and Audi give away brake jobs those are Incentives to buy their cars and not part of the warranty. Do you really think those brake jobs are free- hell no, they are built into the price of the car. If you wear your pads out twice as often as me why should I have to pay for you through the purchase of the car?

Why should Mercedes pay for brakes unless they are defective? They shouldnt be responsible for idiot drivers who ride their brakes or drive like Mario.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Are you guys saying that Mercedes will not cover the cost to replace worn brake pads during the free maintenance period (4/yr, 50k on my car)?

BMW did during the same period with my 3-series.

Yes and a comparably equiped Audi, BMW, and Volvo are all a few thousand more money. That is the price of your wear and tear items. Myself, I like the ability to pick other brake pads that may be better or last longer and not pay for it over a 5 year period. There is nothing in life for free, we in the US get the service for free, but if you compare the cost of the car to say a Canadian one that does not include service, you will notice that you still are paying for it. Just because you do not see the bill does not mean you did not pay for it.

So true:

2003 C230K is about:
$25K USD * 1.57 USD/CND = $39-40K CND

base in Canada is $34.5K CND, that's a $4-5K difference dpending on the exchange rate that day. Someone did the math, and if Service A costs $200 and Service B $400, over 4 years (90K kms) that's 6 services, 3 As and 3 Bs, for a total of $1800, and that's still $2K cheaper than the US base price.

I am still sure my warrantee info says that within the breakin period that brake pads will be replaced free of charge just like wiper blades and light bulbs... going to check again. .

BMW didn't give you free brakes. You paid for them upfront when you paid for the car. The is no such thing as a free lunch, free brakes or free maintenance. They jack up the purchase price of the car. Those of us who don't rack up a lot of miles, subsidize those who do. I would just as soon pay for my "free" maintenance. At the rate I am driving, I will get 1 Service B and 2 Service A's. I'm paying one hell of a lot of money for those "free" services the Canadians don't get, over $800 per service!!!

This is right from the MB website- notice the words "routine service" and "wear items".

"Thanks to the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Commitment, routine service on your Model Year 2000 or newer Mercedes-Benz (as listed under A- and B-Service in your Mercedes-Benz Service Booklet) will cost you nothing for the duration of your 4-year or 50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Maintenance beyond that called for by the Flexible Service System, and wear items, are not covered.*"

Unless you had the stereo installed by a benz technician there is thousands of things a installer could have done to mess something up. Let us know what happened when you find out. Hopefully its nothing big

If you can afford a Mercedes, you can afford to buy brake pads and rotors for it. Sorry.

brake pads are free under warranty 4yrs/50K . after that, the extended warranty can come in, but doesn't cover it. only things like engine and a/c.

That is incorrect. Brake disks and pads are specified as not covered on page 7 of the booklet you received with your operator's manual entitled "Service and Warranty Information 2002 - Passenger Cars".

Exclusions from Maintenance Commitment Coverage:

Wear items such as, but not limited to, engine belts, brake disks, brake pads, brake pad wear sensors, clutch disks, and clutch pressure plates.
