iPad in your car?

This may be old, but I really thought this was a bomb idea, Lol.

Maybe someone could custom-fab a kit for our cars?
Improve upon the ball joint design--I think after consistent usage would result in a frayed female receptor and just sag down...

Wow, that's just plain dumb. Further proof that Apple can crap out just about anything, stick a shiny logo on it and call it "iPoop" and fanboys/followers would want it. Just stick an iPhone or iPod in the car and call it a day. This really is about as pointless as **** on a bull... or the plot in a porno.
And Apple fanboys can suck it if they're offended by this. I'm saying that not as an Apple hater (I'm currently on a Macbook Pro), but as a consumer that buys things for reason, not because it makes me any more hip.

Still not impressed. When it learns to multitask, it'll be a little more desirable. Too bad by then, it'll prob be thinner and won't fit all the gen1 custom fabs.
For the money, I could turn my netbook into an in-car pc and tether it to the internet via my blackberry. (I actually did that to my Honda in 2001 w/ a mini pc setup.)
Oh yah, insurance won't cover you for your car stereo system anymore since it's basically become a mobile unit (iPad). So unless you insure it w/ some type of home/renter's insurance, the iPad isn't covered if it breaks in an accident or gets stolen because you don't wanna carry it with you.

TBH with you, this is the first good application I've seen of the iPad. Only thing it's useful for IMO. If I ever buy a modern car without nav, I'm definitely sticking this thing in there.

i agree with nrg mike that a car pc is more useful and is cheaper to install. But i agree the ipad is a easier straight out of the box solution that isn't very savy with wiring.

One with 4 wheels
Easiest smash and grab job ever. Can't wait to see the boohoo threads about "I got my iPad stolen from my car!"

Unless the person who has this installed is extremely diligent about taking the iPad with them every single time they exit their vehicle. (which will get old, fast.)

Leave the computer at home, where it belongs.

When I'm driving, I expect everyone ELSE to be focusing on driving, not surfing the damn net.

But here in Southern California, in order to pass our driving test, we have to eat a burrito, put pants on, tie a shoe, rename the radio stations, and drive all while on a cell phone.

+1000, QFT.

The iPad serves no purpose, and is the answer to a question that was never asked.
