AMP/SUB Installation problem with BOSE Audio Pilot
As it is a bose sound system for C class, i think it is possibly the same problem : but, go ahead with those subs install and if you got the problem , simply disconnect the microphone. it's done in 5 minutes time.
And then... enjoy Whopping Bass ;-)

Maybe it varies with model year or manufacture date, but that still might be a solution for someone who is not fighting with an aftermarket sub or amp.
Disabling speed sensitive volume control will NOT solve this problem. At least in my car it didn't. I've tried that.
Tomz_racing,
Apprently this mic detects the ambient noise level and 'tries' to adjust the volume. However, with the after market amp/subs installed, there's a problem with sudden volume increase that can cause damage to the subs.

Btw, the mic you are all talking about, is this the same one that is used for the Teleaid? I'd imagine if you removed it, that's it for the service.
I thought we were discussing about the problem that BOSE systems has after installing aftermarket amp/sub without changing the head unit. That's why I said the mic needs to be taken out if you have the same problem that I do.
No, The mic that I disconnected and mentioned in the last few posts of this thread is not for the teleaid. The Teleaid mic is located near the rear view mirror in a black circle. I disconnected that as well while in search for the correct microphone. You don't have to do it.

Fair enough, just trying to make the point that it's not a foregone conclusion it's disabled if you have a Bose system.
see the following email:"
The standard GAL (speed dependend volume control) needs to be deactivated!!!
The audio pilot function in conjunction with the GAL does not work properly -
it overshoots and requires constant manual adjustment.
Please have your technican check for it, but normally, by default it is turned off."
I had this checked and the Benz technician said it was already turned off.
This is THE ONLY TRUE explication. And I believe this technician has he was the only one to give me any correct information
I'm not going to say that all Bose cars have the speed senitive volume turned off. But my car does not change volume on its own. And I have NEVER been in a C-class before that the volume changed on its own. And I've been in hundreds of C-classes.
My only purpose on bringing it up is to clarify that unless my car is a freak of German engineering, or some speed-sensitive-enabling gremlin is chewing on wires in my vehicle, there may be some others floating around out there with it on.
Alright?
I concede the point! It's a Friday night and I'd rather be driving my car than talking about it!
Matt230K : And I've been in hundreds of C-classes.
Are you THE CEO of Mercedez Benz ;-)
?
No, but I do work for a dealer, so I drive many, many cars.
This is supposed to be just the ambient noise sensing mic, but it also appears that the VSS volume is no longer acting up in my car!
Removing the mic defeated both problems for me.
Thanks one and all!
Now I had these same problems with my CLK 500, do you guys think the mic is in the same spot?
Thank you so damn much. WOOHOO!
