It's a world wide phenomenon these days - nothing unusual.

If I ever get married then I will move out, until then I'll stay here. I have no problem with my parents. I get along with them extremely well and like I said I help them with the mortgage and bills and stuff. I can just abandon them and I can't afford to live on my own and help them at the same time.

Edit:
Just saw Glyn's post. +1

Cover came off. The misfires are more and more common now. Before I touch anything, is this a good sign? It seems oil is creeping out of the seals. Isn't that general area where cyl. 4 is?!

mine looks like that but mine was because i had the cover leaking can't remember the technical name. i do remember it does not have a gasket you can buy you have to make one mine was covered under warranty so whatever. maybe it was valve cover. Mine didn't really do anything bad to my engine just lost some oil and made it filthy.

check your spark plug to see if its filled with oil. If it is then i believe you got a bad gasket or if samaritrey is right then maybe just needs silicon or whatever mercedes uses to seal the valve cover. Hopefully its not anything internal like piston rings. Keep in mind im no expert on this so dont trust my word completely but for sure check to the plug. Good thing it's number 4 so its easy to get to. You just gotta pry that wire off gently to get to the plug.

well it is actually cheap i think i was told it was 84.95 per side so its not like it was outrageously expensive. But you are having a bad time with your car how many miles are on it and how long have you had it?

#4 cylinder is the front one on the driver side.

that pic is of 1-2-3. seal leak is common issue on m112 and m113. just have the recirculating cover seal replaced, not that big of a deal.

Also, tech who inspected car briefly mentioned that my car needs an oil change every 3k or every three months... sounds like he just wants business. He told me to go to his shop to get my oil changed so he can further diagnose my problems. So far:

Spark plug
Plug wires
Head gasket seal

"I don't know how much that'll cost. But bring 50-70 bucks for the oil change."

Fishy.

I dont know if you solved this problem already, but my 98 c230 had the same problem last winter.

The mechanic (family trustworthy) said it was bad coil packs, which in turn screwed up the spark plugs. I suggest taking a look into those first and foremost. In the meantime if you must drive it, be easy on the throttle off a dig or when rolling at low speeds in a high gear. That can cause the problem easy.

dont do it every 3k and if he's saying 50-70 bucks then hes not putting in full synthetic with proper filter. doesn't sound trustworthy at all or he just doesn't know much about mercedes. The 8 quarts of mobil 1 alone is 60-80 dollars.

Lane,
No need for short oil drain. That captive crankcase ventilation seal is a common leak & a cheap fix. Tru Taing did a good writeup on it's repair.

To remove the recirculating valve, I need a 14 torx, and I've check three auto shops and a lowes. No where to be found. Is it just uncommon? I'm headed for harbor freight..
