w204 headers on the w203
Waz up guys,
As some of you know I recently got headers for my car. I will try to best explain why Kleemann doesn't offer these for the w203. The downpipes are a complete fail for the w203.
I went down to Cypress Muffler and I know most of you guys have been there and let me say Steve is a monster when it comes to his job. He didn't do a chicken shyt job and he made sure I would get good airflow so he had to make custom downpipes and modify the cats. I told him just to weld it but he didn't listen to me and took his time and IMO everything is perfect now (good thing he didn't listen to me and just weld it). This was extremely hard because he had to work with my current exhaust. If I went with a completely new setup it would have been much easier for him.
Pros: The car is a complete beast and somewhat worth the money I put into it. On the freeway it pulls like a V8. It constantly pulls with an even powerband. If you slowly accelerate you can feel the force and it pulls you back (no joke). If you punch the gas within a matter of seconds you will reach max speeds.
Cons: The downpipe install was a pain in the ***. The cats had to be modified. Now my steering shaft hits the header. Steve told me to bring it in and he will take a look at it
I'm usually a picky/paranoid guy but I really trusted Steve and he really showed he knows what he is doing. His prices are good and he has good knowledge. When I went there he was working on a Maserati and all I can say is
He did Timmy's car too and said he found some Pokemon cards in the car
Up next dyno tune. I will do a dyno before and after tune to see how much I really gained just with the headers.
Below are some pics (sorry cell phone crap quality)
P.S. The Secondary Cats are not cats. It didn't have a honey comb. He said he has seen some CLS' that actually do have secondary cats but most are not cats.

Karo, you have any soundclips? Can't remember what you have for exhaust besides the headers. You had a Remus muff---ler that is...

I just got home. We had a little 3 way action. I finally settled the whole fiasco.
G35 S Sedan VS C350 VS G37 Coupe (3 runs)
One of the buddies set up this race. We lined up light hit green and we went at it.
1st I got the lead off the line for a split second then me and the G35 were even, the G37 coupe was half a car behind. By the time we reached 70 the G35 had about a car (my front bumper was by his rear bumper) while the G37 coupe was right next to me but I felt the G37 coupe was going to stay there if we kept going and the G35 would have pulled on me more not the G37.
2nd race similar scenario but this time the G37 was next to me the whole time while again the G35 had a car on me.
3rd race I got a very good start and the G37 was behind almost by a car while me and the G35 were neck to neck.
I know some people are not going to believe me just like my G37 coupe story (how I kept up with it till 60 then it pulled on me) but I honestly don't give a rats ***. 3 races with similar outcomes.

Thanks John, that's a good idea. I noticed during install it was maybe 2mm away. I guess the headers expanded and while driving the engine probably moves around. John, I am going to take it Monday, will I risk breaking anything driving it in the meantime?

i had the same problem...take a long pry bar and "wiggle it inbetween, itll bend the header in slightly , also becasue when you turn the steering wheel, the shaft offsets slightly while turning, thats why it rubs, and it only rubs while turning left, lol...i was thinking about putting a small washer in the driver side mount to lift the engine slightly . It only needs like a 1/8" space...i really dont have the time to do it i dont even have tme to make a sound clip whle driving

Thanks for the great info bro, I'll definitely give that a try once it's on a lift.
Did you hear in my post in the other thread how my right pipe was thicker than the left? Also on mine it's only when I turn left. When I turn it slightly then it goes over and then one more time. It sucks because when I make left turns it feels like I have no power steering (have to turn it with both hands then turn it back)

it happens to you throughout the entire turning left radius???? WTF???? i only have it like for literally 1/32 of a turn. lets say i have my wheels straight and i start turning left, then it starts to "grab" at 10 oclock and lets go at 9:50 oclock ...i knew about the steering shaft issue, so what i did durning install is , i played with the header placement on the studs, when i tightened them , i had them all the way down on the studs at the head. i was clear by about 1/2" but then i noticed that the shaft while turning it offsets, by about 5/8" ..another idea is to look for the mark on the steering shaft and slightly file it down , i have a mark of about 1/2" on the shaft , so its not much
