cabin air filter, please help

Hi guys, I bought the cabin air filter from autohausaz.com. I got the two piece air filter and couldn't figure out where the filter is. I have extensively search and still got no results. THIS IS NOT the air filter above the battery. I took out the screw below the dash from both passenger and driver side and didn't find any filter there either. Any help will be appreciated and any picture would be nice. Thanks.

I have a 2003 C240 with 70K. Just did the oil change and replaced engine air filter.

In your car the only filter is above the battery so i guess your filter housing got lost. the 2 piece filter is only for certain cars like mine.

Thanks smaritrey, the filter above the battery is still there. I thought that there are more than 1 cabin air filter. This sucks, I just wasted 70 bucks.

Correct, depending on year, there is a second set of filters in the car, below and behind the glove compartment. I believe the newer w203's just have the one above the battery

Yeah the 01-03 c320's i know came with them and the 02-03 c32's came with them. after 03 or 04 it was stopped and only more expensive models have the charcoal filters now.

I have a 2001 C200 W203 Kompressor.
I wanted to change the air cabin filter as well, but the manual does not mention anything about such. It talks about Charcoal Filter though.
Would anybody know if this model still have the Air Cabin Dust filter?
Thanks.

if you have it you will have the button on your climate control to turn it on and off. it is under the glove box. very fun to get to take off the black plastic thing and you will see the box with the two charcoal filters in it. I doubt a c200 has them if you don't have the digital climate control you don't have them.

No 70 in diagram. Only fitted with Thermotronic and not Thermatic. In South Africa you could specify Thermotronic on a C200.

On my '07 C280 4Matic, a large piece of thermacoal was stuck in the location where #70 is shown (in the above picture Glyn posted). That thermacoal piece was put in at the factory. EPC says #70 is not applicable for my car. So, I only replaced the filter behind the battery.

pdvng_mb, why don't you return the part to the place where you bought it and get your money back. You will probably have to pay shipping. Call the place where you bought the filter set and get the Return Authorization.

By '07 most cars with Thermatic had that area totally blanked off so you could not retrofit. Earlier cars had blanking pieces inserted that would allow you to retrofit.

Yep, my 07 is totally blanked off. I REALLY would love to retrofit, but I am not replacing the whole assembly to do so.

If it does not have Thermotronic then it won't have the charcoal filter but probably has the blanks inserted so you can retrofit. You need to stick your head under there & have a look.

Yeah the took out the charcoal filters our to the w203 model line in like 03 or 04 from my understanding. You only have it if you have the digital ac controls. Mercedes i guess decided that the entry level car does not need a charcoal filter assembly. I would honestly just live with the charcoal filter that goes above the battery. i installed one in my car and now rarely use the secondary charcoal filters.

Thermotronic still came with Charcoal filters on newer units but then they used the correct trunking.

The over the battery filter is like $20 instead of like $10 for the normal paper one.
