Javvy - Thank you! - this is just what we need - not a load of BS about modifying the car without any real appreciation of what a large undertaking that is without support.
The OP has reported what I would suspect. Europe is expensive although Steve has very good contacts that he has access to. In throw away America where used car prices are low & insurance companies total them for minor accidents - used engines are cheap.

I think the OP should get a nice engine with low miles for around 3K-3.5K easy and then he could ship it to his country..........

Another option is Potomac Auto who claims to be one of the largest salvage yards for European auto's in the U.S.
They are currently listing 4 engines for 4750.06. They vary in mileage from 44,000 to 63,000. They have a Florida and a Maryland location, but I did not look at the Florida. Both locations have a link on their main page. They seem to run the two locations separately for inventory. I would think they would be worth a phone call.

Autopartsfair.com has a few engines listed, but I'm not sure if they actually have any in stock. I called about six months ago for a new rim and, even though it was listed on the site, they didn't actually have any to sell. Regardless, I think they're fairly reputable. The price is a few hundred more than $4,900, but it will come with a warranty.
