Mb mechanics and experienced DIYers. Need help with transmission service!!!

A few weeks ago my 2006 C230 ss turned over 100k miles. I decided since I was going to change the oil anyway, while I was down there I would change the transmission fluid and filter as well. I bought all the necessary parts and fluid from the local dealer. I drained all the trans fluid and changed the filter. I poured the old fluid , which was black, into gallon jugs so that I would have an idea of how much needs to go back in. I bolt everything back up and go to fill the dipstick tube (like my SL55 has) and noticed there is no tube. Apparently I have the 722.9 trans that you have to fill from the drain plug with a special pump.

Where do I go from here? Can I buy a cheap fluid pump and fill this myself? Fill it back up with the amount I drained out?
I now have a car that I can't drive because some idiot decided we shouldn't be able to service our own transmissions. Should I bite the bullet and have it towed to the dealer.
This really sucks. Anyone have any input.
Thanks in advance.
Nick

If I were you, I would drop the pan and add new fluid [exact amount as the fluid removed] to the pan. Carefully, bolt up the pan. I 've seen one mechanic doing this. Since the same amount of new fluid is added (assuming you don't spill any fluid while raising and bolting up the pan), there should be no problem.

If you go to home depot and get one of those insect sprayers, and an adapter that'll screw into the pan you can pump fluid in that way. Then you need to start the car and monitor trans fluid temp. At about 113 degrees Fahrenheit you pull out the filler from the drain and allow it to drain with the engine running so it is about as thick as a pencil, then put the plug in and your done. With doing a trans service, and starting with an empty pan, you'll add between 5 and 6 liters.

Basically your tool will look like this...

Did you drain the torque converter? See Johnands thread on 7G change.

PDF

Here is the PDF that has the correct drain and fill procedure, that dealers use...
VERY HELPFUL..

I will go ahead and have the car towed to the dealer for free tomorrow using AAA, and the Service Manager said they would fill the trans to spec for me for 50.00. At that price it isn't that bad, and at least i know it will be filled correctly.
But i do plan on ordering the 38.00 adapter and picking up a pressure bottle from Home Depot so that i don't run into this again...

Thanks again everyone for your input..

Yes - This I find of interest & maybe you can provide the answer. The TC drain was removed from the 722.6 transmission in mid 1999 production - I have the number somewhere. Damn bean counters - As you know the TC remained pressed for plug but not drilled & threaded.

The first occasion that I realised it had been reintoduced to the 722.9 was on Johnand's car.

Do you know the date of manufacture, VIN or whatever of the TC drain plug being reintroduced?

Not sure exactly when they put them back...but I want to guess around 2006. It may also vary from model to model.
