Really annoying chirping/twittering noise inside - what can it be?

Hello everyone!

I hope that you can help me out with my "little problem" - I have a very annoying noise inside my car, it sounds like a little bird twittering around on every major or minor road hole.

Yesterday I started to search for it with my brother...
We both are sure that it comes from somewhere "behind" the speedometer or the speedometer itself...it's really hard to tell where exactly it comes from...
So we disassembled the whole speedometer-unit, took lots of small velours-stripes to cushion every place that could cause this sound, but with no success...
Then we disassembled the cover below the steering wheel and checked if there was something loose, but we both couldn't find anything which could cause such a noise...

Now maybe someone here allready had such a problem and found out what it is? My car is lowered (KAW-springs with Bilstein B8 shocks), so the forces to the body are a little higher than usual, and I think that's the reason why it gives that noise, but I don't want to go back to stock-height

Thanks for your help everyone!

Mine did the same and the dealer fixed it under warranty. There is a bracket behind the dash that is the culprit.

Thanks for your help!

Did the dealer tell you what bracket it was that caused that noise?
Or do you have any number of that incident? Like a standard number where my dealer can find out what to do?

Can also be a noisy blower motor bearing.

OK guys, I found it out with the help of my brother!
He found someone in another forum saying that it is some wires in the engine compartment close to the firewall - so I just took two cable-ties and tied the wires and the tube there together - I was more than surprised that after this very easy repair the noise is gone!!
We spent like 6h yesterday trying to fix it, now it was 5 minutes of work!
I have the C280 (3.0l V6-engine), so I think that is an issue with all the newer V6-models maybe (C230, C280, C350)...

I can't tell you how happy I am now!

But thanks again for your help!

That's the link that gave me the hint:

http://www.mercedesforum.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=24469

Here's a picture that shows the tubes and wires that I fixed:

http://www.abload.de/img/geruschewfzr.jpg

It's not my picture, I just found it on the internet (I was too lazy going out and take one myself )

On "1" I took out the tube of the clip, pulled the sleeve a bit over and pushed it back in with the sleeve covered, so it sits in the clip more firmly...
On "2" I used 2 ties to tie the tubes and wires together - that's it!

I have this noise as well however I believe mine is a blower motor bearing. which sucks if it is because I took the car in and had the blower motor replced under warranty right before the warranty ended, those ****ty techs couldnt fix the bracket.

There are a lot of place that has this chirp or tweet noise.

1. I have this noise on my driver side seat belt. The top bolt where you can slide up on down the column. I haven't fix it, but it chirps whenever i move around with my seat belt on.

2. There is a chirp whenever I brake. Sounds as though there is a bird in the brakes.

3. There are chirps on the seats i sit. Perhaps I am getting overweight.

4. I am sure there are more birds some other places. I recall reading there is a post somewhere where there are lots of chirps in difference places and their fix.

Squeaking seats can be fixed really easily by lubricating the bracket under the seat. It was the only squeak my car had and has long been fixed.

The funny thing is: the noise came back! I stopped at the gas-station immediately and opened the hood, I somehow thought "that cover to the right is rather loose - loose = bad - remove it"...so I touched it and heard a little squeaking...so I removed that thing and gone was the noise!
So I think it's the cover causing the noises, too...on the picture I posted above it's the black plastic cover above the fuse-box (right where the "2" is in the picture), there's some kind of soft material under it, which stops it from rattling, but which produces these twittering noise when "scratching" over the fuse-box...I will put some velours-stuff on it tomorrow

MB’s of all kinds.
What is it with the C Classes? Every W203, W202 I have ever came accross seems to have this issue along with the blower motor acting funny.
