Auto window & roof with SMART KEY
Does anyone knows how to make the windows and roof open with the smart key? I tried to reset it couple of times and still nothing. I had it work once and that was the only time and I would love to make it work again.

you have to be on the drive side door and point at the sensor thats on the handle. push the unlock and hold it down and it should go down, you might have to press and hold it down a couple of times to work. Mine does that sometimes where I'd have to press and hold it again to get it to go down. To roll them closed just do the same but with the lock button.

All of that being said, frequently the IR sensor in the door handle becomes troublesome and it will stop working. If it refuses to work, that could well be the issue.
My '02 has one on the driver's and passenger's side and both of them are dead. I have the replacement for the driver's side and will eventually get the passenger and replace them both, but I am not in a hurry, as it isn't that useful of a feature -- I just don't like that it something does not work, but I have a short list and these are not on the top.

It seems like everyone has the same problems at the same time based on number of threads about the same thing in the past little while.
Replacing the IR sensor will not do much - I had it done under warranty and the system is still a flake. It's a quirk you'll just have to live with. I don't find the feature particularly useful, anyway.

Mine hardly ever works, it's faster for my to just open the door, put the key in, and press the window buttons. Plus, I don't use the sunroof so it won't break and/or leak.

Are you serious? I don't understand this fear people have of their cars aging. It happens and nothing you can do to stop it. I use my sunroof every single day and it works fine. I've also never seen a post on here about a sunroof problem in a sedan (the pano-roofed coupes are another story).

But still don't you hate to not use a feature based on fear of something like that? If I felt like that about my car I'd just get rid of it. It's not the same thing by any means but along the same lines principle wise as having a spouse you feel you have to check up on, go through phone records, etc... if you don't trust it you're never going to be really happy.
I use all my features (because they're there to be used) and if something breaks, well, it happens. So far, though at 91300 miles and daily use of the sunroof nothing has broken.
BTW - if it were to cease to function, you can close it manually. If that were to happen I would probably not fix it but at least it wouldn't cost anything.

No, because I care nothing about having a hole in the roof. Just because I don't like the sunroof doesn't mean I don't like rest of the car! I don't use the sunroof on my Trailblazer either. Most of the time when a sunroof breaks, it's some little piece of plastic or a slider of some sort somewhere and not the motor, so if it breaks when it's open usually it can't be closed with breaking something else. Then if you do get it closed the glass usually doesn't sit right and will leak water. Every sunroof I've seen broken is something along the lines of that, I've personally never replaced a sunroof motor for going wrong. Plus, like I said, even when just the shade is open 90% of the time the sun comes through my sunglasses and my face and blinds me so I want to close the shade anyway.

That's like being married to Angelina Jolie but not having sex because she might get pregnant. ![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)
Your sunroof motor would work better if it were used normally - you're actually doing more harm to it by not using it. But it's your car...

Oh okay now if you just dislike the sunroof and don't use it that's different than "I wish I could open the sunroof but am afraid it will break".
