Karo's C350 Dyno Tune
#26
Thanks Splinter, it does feel good. I've never been in a C32 or even driven one and now I can somewhat imagine how much of a smile it brings to it's owners faces
K1 definitely sounds good. I still have 2 races left. We should definitely set something up. It'll be great to catch up with you guys and to see Eric's new M3 (take it to Gintani Eric and have them supercharge it!!! (they had Paul Walkers track M3 there ) . Last I heard SeaCoupe is down for the count. Might have to take another trip near the beach

No way...not stock. 300 tq possible but no hp (stock). Same car different power from 270 - 28x (mid)
Edit:
The car is really 330 - 339 crank power. Again depends on a lot of factors and not all put down the same power.

That's not the point...the point is where did you see a 335 run 300whp stock? Runing low 13s doesn't mean the car has 300whp.
The second fastest time on Dragtimes is this guy: http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-335i-Timeslip-10490.html DynoJet is 270hp and 1/4 is 13.2

but idk, paper numbers don't really mean too much. i'll be impressed with quarter mile times.

I saw it here so I am going to assume it's a valid source. I have driven in Evo's stock and modified like built 2.3's. The power in the 335i comes on smooth and hold out until near redline where the boost tapers off. I can make a comparison because the power on a evo comes on much differently.

karo is correct, average 335i dynos around 275-280whp on a dyno jet...on the high side there about 290whp. dyno dynamics is the lowest reading dyno, they read lower then a mustang dyno. Thats why people call it the heart breaker dyno. Its a load dyno which makes it better for tuning but creates a higher drive train lost.

anyways, gross numbers doesn't really matter. You have to look at net grains, He gained 33wtq and 22whp within his power band he didn't have before just from a tune.
He gained a lot of low end tq, and mid range hp. You can see that at 5200rpm that the car is starving for air and kills lot of the hp. Karo, can probably milk another 10whp if he gets a larger 3'' intake like a sl55 intake.
The gains are pretty good for a NA v6. There's a c55 guy who got a tune only and gained 0 power. He actually lost power compared to the stock tune and went back to stock tune.

I thought it was last week??? w203 vs w204..let's do this. Last time we were dead even Maybe we can get Pinoc to join too and then it'll be 202 vs 203 vs 204
If Pinoc tunes his car he should be able to spank us
Have you seen Armen's Eisenmann's??? (sounds sick though)

I figured out my numbers.
Baseline
198.2 hp
188.3 tq
After Tune
214.8 hp
211.6 tq
I was told 1.18 is to convert Gintani AKA heartbreak dyno to dynojet
198.2 X 1.18 = 233.8
I have seen a stock C350 on Dynojet do 227.9 which means I am over 6whp due to my headers. 227.9 x 18% will be around the stock rating of 268hp
Now with mine 233.8 x 18% will be around 275hp. (268 - 275 = 7hp which so far adds up )
After tune I am at 214.8
214.8 X 1.18 = 253.4
253.4 x 18% = around 298hp
275hp
262tq
298hp
294tq
estimated
Does this all sound correct?

An estimate of between 15-20% can be seen when comparing DD&MD to DJ. Sometimes a multiplicative is added in correction on Dynojet, which can present even more generous numbers.
