White Out Grill

The chrome piece of the grill has been taking heavy stone chips so I decided to do something different. But the results turned out to be funny... Anyway, in case someone ever wonders how a white grill would look like, here it is so the same mistake can be avoided.

I like it, but since you don't, try it with some black tape.

Thanks! But I think it looks too white. Maybe a matching color would look better? Let me photoshop it and take a second look!

You could probably get it painted for a hundred or so.

u did it wrong. u actually could have made it look good.

u should have taken off the star and painted the whole inside there where its balck and did the white all over. that way all that would be on there is a silver star. I took off my star when i had my grille paited so it would not be dull inside where yours is black. Do it over and paint inside there it will probally look good.

Did you use tape, or did you paint it?

If you are good at painting and want it to match, you can do that with the touch up paint bottles. Just get enough of them and put them in a sprayer and paint it. Hopefully it will match. You can probably also buy some paint from a body shop.

The white SL grille looks like crap! Turned a bling ride into some POS looking ghetto monster!

BTW, last night I saw a silver coupe with metal mesh net surrounding the fog lights and the part directly under the license plate.

Where can you get that? Who makes it? The ones in the stock cars are plastic grids.

You can buy metal mesh at the hardware store.

I just used decal tape so it's not a complete job. I want to try it out before acutally painting it. The SL grill looks too sharp for my taste. I will probably try to black it out next time. I know black grill looks nice on black cars, but not sure about white cars.

BTW, I checked up home depot for the metal mesh thing but all I found was the aluminum window/door screens... Maybe I looked at the wrong section?

Be sure to post pics when you do the black. I would try it if it looks good, but I'm still not sure how it would look on the white. I would probably just use tape anyway though since my car is leased. Or else buy a new grill, but that's probably not cheap.

See Garage
On a white car, I think the white grill looks nice, if in matching color. I'm not sure I would like an all-black grill (on a white car)

It doesn't look like any chicken wire I have ever seen. I have always heard it called expanded metal. It should be available in steel or aluminum.

I painted the center star mark portion of the grill white yesterday and it looked even more weird. So I'll black it out today and see how it goes with a white body.

Well... someone has to take the initiative. Not too much of a hassle as only the center is painted, the grills are just decal tape.
