rough ride with my C320 2001

hi,

this is the first time for me to use this site. i'd appreciate any input and help.

i've a C320 2001. The rims were replaced by an 18" carlsson, andn the springs with H&R.

with the above configuration, i am getting a hard ride when driving the car, especially when going over bumps (i feel that the car doesn't abosrb the shock at all).

- how can i improve this given the above configuration ?
- if i went back, and put the 17" AMG wheels/tires, will it really help ?
- if i decided to put on a new wheels/tires/suspension, what shall i do with the existing ones ? can i sell them ? if so, how ?

thanks ,
samer

i bought the car with this stuff on it. when i test-drove it, things didn't look as annoying as they are now.

in a nut-shell, if you've got a good word to say, then speak up and help. otherwise, being as ignorant as the thing who posted the thing up is no good.

You should expect the ride to be harder when you're running 18's wheels... were the shocks upgraded also or are you running the stock shocks w/ the H&R springs?

2002 mercedes c320
Hi...

Hi samera,
I also have a 2002 c320 with 18" carlsson and H&R springs.
My ride feels ok, except when I go through bumps, then the ride is very uncomfortable.
First, the spring is already set to have a little or no bounce at all. it is very tight. The advantage is that your car is more stable in cornering (I guess).
Second, if you do not cut the springs, maybe the ride is ok. So, check if the spring is cut or not, because it can make the ride different.
If you want the ride to be as comfortable as possible, the only option is to change the stock back to OEM and put the original tire and wheel.

I guess that's it. I am so sorry if I am wrong or miss something.

thanks for the advise offered. if i decided to go to the AMG 17", will i still see a rough ride ? or it is better to go back to the OEM ?

also, what shall i do with the carlsson rim (and maybe tires) that are on the car ? can i sell them ? if so, how ?

thanks,
samer

if by improve you mean make it softer, then put the stock springs/shocks/wheels back on.

a little

Another option would be to keep the 18" Carlsson's and switch out the springs back to either stock or something more forgiving. Any time you lower the car by adding shorter springs, it will give you a harder ride. I notice a difference when I went to 17" wheels on stock suspension - the ride does suffer a bit, but I wanted more handling. Will probably look into a suspension mod sometime in the future. Will change out both springs and shocks - for even more handling, but knowing I will suffer on the comfort side. It depends on the overall ride and look that you are going for. If you want the "lowered" look, then there really is not other option IMO.

how many miles have you put on your car since you changed springs? your shocks could be busted which explains the harsh ride. if so, changing your shocks may help the ride a little, but bigger rims and lowering your car will make your ride harsher. it all depends on what is more important, looks or ride...

Samera - thanks for being honest....a lot of people buy this stuff(I know you didn't buy it) and just can't admit that the ride quality suffers.....H&R springs are one of the stiffest out there...try Eibach or stock springs (but be aware they bill raise your car up)
