C230 Sports Coupe Rear Plastic Window Clear Coat
Do you guys have the same problem???
I have a problem with the plastic window (plexiglass) which is a part of the rear lift gate. The plastic window has a clear coat, and it is peeling off.
I brought it to a detailing shop but they can't do anything but if they touch they would even make it worse.
Replacing is $$$.

I vinyled over mine but it bubbles constantly. . . thinking of just sanding it and spraying it with VHT nightshades

$400 - parts only
This is an eyesore...
One body shop quoted over $400 for the parts only! It seems like the panel all comes with factory painted black trim and no new paint is needed. One body shop said this work should be done by a glass repair shop, but one glass repair shop told me to go to a body shop.
I will look around some junk yards.

Saprissa's old thread covered his removal of this window when he did the Euro-plate bezel. I wish that thread hadn't been lost, so much good information. In any case, it is pretty much impossible to remove the that small rear window without destroying it. Then you have to grind out the remaining epoxy and stick the new one in place. In any case, it is difficult and time consuming.

Detail shop
I found a detailer who can fix this. He says this is pretty easy to sand down Clear coat, and refinish just like he does on headlights.
I will bring my car in next week.

i know this is and old conversation, but probably this problem is still contemporary.. so.. i have the same problem.. and I'm about to try n fix it... Gonna sand it pretty gently and polish it, and clear coat it again...
probably gonna update pics and everything so i can help others to fix it or at least do not commit the same mistakes than i did...

actually a few days ago I tried a few products . They didn't worked and probably made it worst . I'm going to try with the kit for restoring headlights today or tomorrow .
Ive been doing a lot of service to the car like all the fluids flush and change, filters , etc and just forgot about the faded plastic . Update tomorrow

YES!~
bought CCP Headlight Lens Repair : in TAP Plastics.
you can get it online i guess too...
it worked wonders... 90 or 95 % improved.. almost like new AND I DIDNT EVEN CLEAR COAT IT AGAIN YET
you need a drill, the ccp kit and probably 30 minutes...
you'll save a lot lot of money and your car will look nice again, you're welcome my friend.
this worked perfect on my car, but i am not responsible of any kind of detailing made by other person other than myself, this is an advice , take it or leave it. But i recommend this 100% 10 times... saved my car

step1 / clean
step2 /water sand with the sandpaper provided by the ccp kit with the drill
step3/polish like a M f&*er with the pad and cream provided in the kit (with a drill )
step4/rinse & clean
step5/repeat step 3 and 4 if you saw any imperfection
